Marc, Peterson scares the heck out of me. He's going to go Top 5 in all probability. I think that's a lock. And there's no question he has the talent to merit that pick and even a higher one. But two major issues concern me:
1. Taylor is still with the Vikings.
2. All Day was putrid to close out last season.
Childress clearly likes using Taylor - especially in the passing game. If you're going to be a Top 5 RB you need to either be an every-down player, score a massive amount of TDs or both. I'm not sure Peterson will be able to do that. He's a complete non-factor in the passing game and even though he's terrific near the goal line, he didn't get all the carries there last season (Jackson even vultured a few).
So I do think there's a very real possibility Peterson doesn't live up to his draft billing. His fade at the end of last season is something I still haven't forgotten (dude cost me a lot of money) and mainly it's because Childress kept using Taylor.
And I haven't even mentioned Peterson's running style which lends itself to potential injury.
I love the guy's talent but there are some real issues and real dangers with him. Tom, there's no question to the talent that Peterson posseses, but he did wear down, and Chester is still in the mix. These are solid reasons why I've been saying he's the best #2 RB in fantasy football(even as far back as Gekko's fantasy documentary in Atlantic City)...
IF AP stays healthy and IF AP doesn't lose touches to Chester and IF Gus Frerotte is the starter and the Vikings create a passing game, then this guy is a stud. But I can't afford to gamble with that many IF's in the first round. ESPECIALLY a top 5 pick.
I have no problems stating that I LOVE the fact that everyone is sold on him, because he will cost someone SERIOUS money in the auctions, and that will be money that I have no intention of spending. Mo' Money for me to throw around! [/QUOTE]2nd overall in Rushing yards in '07
4th overall in Total yards in '07
in 14 games, with C. Taylor splitting carries, and an anemic passing attack.
a)Can the QB play be any worse this year than last?
b)Can C. Taylor get more of the split this season?
Where would you rank ADP if QB play was equal to last year, C. Talyor and he split touches equal to last year, and Peterson plays all 16 games?
Marc, I think where we differ is you think both a&b scenarios above have to improve for Peterson to justify a top 5 selection. I disagree. I think his numbers will improve just by playing all 16 games. If not, he is still top 5. If he does, then I'd put him 1B.

I see nothing in Barber's game that says he would break down over a 16 game schedule.
Therefore, if he gets the lion's share of touches, on a very good team, with a serious passing attack, what is not to like?
Smells like Addai to me.

Have to agree with UFFC here on MB III. Given the full load with occasional spelling from Thompson, MB III should produce.
As for ADP, sounds like the same questions being asked last year are already cropping up this year. Only difference is one stud season under his belt. Can't see him lasting to the 5th or 6th pick in the draft.
As for StevieJax, I like the division he plays in but the offensive talent level on that team is in decline, particularly in the o-line where it counts the most. That team seems to crater as soon as Orlando Pace goes down.

Although many including Mr. 2006 NFFC himself Rob may have very much enjoyed how Steven Jackson played vs. don't care teams that were ALL out of the playoff (including the Rams) (2006 final three games)...you would be foolish to think that is how he plays vs. teams that DO care.
You have a crappy Rams team at the end of 2006 trying to sneak into the playoffs in the weak NFC...playing
2-14 OAK (do you think they cared WTF happened?)
5-11 WAS (ditto)
6-10 MIN (again...their opponents had NOTHING to play for.)
During this small 3 game stretch at the end of 2006...Steven Jackson padded his stats to the tune of...
545 yards rushing + rec.
8 TD.
I thought you broke stuff down???
You want to add garbage stat padding, and think that will happen when you need him during the season?
Good Luck.

~Lance Not sure what the confused comment was about, but using your example, SJAX, minus weeks 13-16 (although it seems like the NFFC uses stats during their contests over the full 16 game schedule, so I'm not sure why we're eliminating games in our examples?) would have totaled:
1795 combined yards in weeks 1-13
8 Tds in weeks 1-13 or 0.62/gm
I guess I'm still missing where these are numbers I wouldn't want to count on??
Edit to add...
1795 yards and 8 TDs would have placed him about 6th overall last year.

Sure bets (is there such a thing) in 2008!
LT
Addai
AP
SJax
Westy
The obvious disclaimer being health....do we have to say that every time...or is it just understood as a pre-cursor to our projections.
After that its real sketchy which is why I see Moss/Brady....or...Brady/Moss ADP being 6...7 this year.

Jacobs came up gimpy just reading your question.
Ronnie Brown recovering, on a terrible team, in an improving Division, fighting off Ricky Williams.
