How Many Lost Because...
I thought I had a great draft strategy. I was taking no chances on anyone that was even slightly hurt or was in a battle for a job. I drafted the first weekend in the classic and refused to budge on Manning, even in the 6th round, even though he was supposedly out only 1 week. I took no chances on Arian Foster, even though he was available at #7. Still, with all that being said, I had a horrible fantasy week, Steven Jackson got hurt and other starters played horrible with incredible hype. What I am getting at is, whether you have a FAAB prior to the season or not, it really doesn't matter. If you draft well, get a little lucky with regards to injuries, and make smart pickups during the season, the preseason FAAB makes very little difference in the end. It effected very few players that weren't already a risk.

The current Slowdraft top two teams are from Slow draft #1 and slow draft #2 which started in early August.
It is much easier to put up huge numbers (and huge stinkers) drafting early. So you take the late drafts and the tiny position battle/kicker injury advantages and I'll take the early drafts and get my value picks a few rounds later than you will. 100% agree with you here. Good points!

Yeah we drafted Buehler in a August 29th draft and couldn't get another kicker. Ended up losing by 2 points when I would've picked up Carpenter. [/QUOTE]There is a difference between bad luck and stupidity. Drafting Hartley as your only kicker is bad luck. Drafting Buehler as your only kicker is just plain stupid.

Guys like Hightower and Bush and Felix Jones moved up 2-3 rounds from the start of the drafts to the end this year. Also, there is a much greater ability to utilize FAAB in the early drafts. There's basically slop in the pool if you drafted last weekend, but there's guys who can legitimately help your team if you drafted in mid-August.

Taking a chance on someone who had a 50/50 shot is risky yes but not stupid. We drafted one kicker and paid the price for it. Sh!t happens.

I didn't call you stupid. I said what you did was stupid, and I stick by that.
On August 29th Dallas had four or five kickers on their roster, drafting any of them as your only kicker was stupid.
There is some luck involved in this hobby, some of the luck we make. If having Buehler was bad luck, it was luck you made.
Maybe we could get some more accomplished players than me to chime in.
Best of luck the rest of the season.

Yellow line, you sure have a way with words.
You are basically 100% saying what I wanted to say though.
You didn't hear Donnie Avery owners say anything. Why? because if you drafted Avery and he got released then you should be ashamed of your talent evaluating and should take a 0 on your bench for a week, not get a chance to redraft someone.
Same with Buehler, you like him as a kicker? You've seen how he kicks and you love it? You draft him and the Cowboys don't agree? deal with it...try not to talk about luck. Taking a guy who gets cut by week 1 as your starter isn't luck.

John/Yellow:
It is funny you said "sorry if I don't kiss your ring" to Go Getta because, well, they won the title a couple years ago. Don't know if you know that or not.
But drafting one kicker not knowing if they have a job or not is "unwise". How is that, nicer?
