Greg...that was an absolutely lovely depiction of you and your family's experience on a surreal day at Lambeau Field...the warm-blood flowing to the SNAKEheart actually turned hot for an instance while reading your post, especially the reference to the snow globe feeling that everyone in the stadium seemed to experience...

...however, come next Sunday evening...

THE CLOCK STRIKES MIDNIGHT ON CINDERELLA FAVRE'S BALL!!!

...ISHO this is the year of the GIANTS, not the Packers and this game will prove just that...on this coming Sunday Eli REALLY comes of age, BJ & Ahmad run all day, the vaunted Giants pass rush gives Favre fits and the Favre/Pack fairy tale season comes plummetting down, crashing to earth in a crude reality fireball landing right on the 50 yard line of the frozen tundra inside Lambeau Stadium...for those in attendance, including yourself, SNAKE fears that it will be disappointment on a grand scale, one surpassing even the Packers Super Bowl defeat against Elway's Broncos, years gone by...if the Giants can go on the road and administer a beat-down on the Cowgirls (who remember, were the NFC's #1 seed, NOT the Pack), then they certainly can, and WILL beat the Pack at Lambeau come this Sunday...sorry Greg, but ISHO this beautiful last memory against the lame Seahawks will be the one that you will want to cherish, not the next nightmarish one come this Sunday against the 2007 destiny-designated Giants...SNAKE It's important to be loyal to the end SNAKE. I admire that. ;)

That being said, I think the Packers have a lot in their favor right now and will win this game. But of course, when it's -10 with the wind chill, ANYTHING can happen. Still, I think the Packers will win and by more than a touchdown. Here's why:

1. History isn't kind to teams who won their first two games on the road in the playoffs as they've lost by big spreads. They've flown from New York to Tampa to New York to Dallas to New York and now to Green Bay on Friday. Whether they admit it or not, they will be road weary and the Packers are as fresh and as healthy as they've been all year. The Packers also have a full day of extra rest as they played on Saturday and the Giants played on Sunday. The Giants are 9-1 on the road and they're playing well, but the Packers sure look fresh right now.

2. Home field advantage. Yes, the Giants won on the road, but Lambeau will be ELECTRIC again this Sunday. I know, I'm still hoarse today from Saturday's game. :D The wind factor, the cold, the setting, all plays in the Packers' favor.

3. As cold as it's going to be, it could be tough to run. I know that sounds odd, but the footing will be tough and those short patterns can be impossible to stop. Favre will be in the shotgun and throwing within 2 seconds to a slant, negating the Giants' pass rush like they did against Seattle. Grant may slip and slide like Jacobs and Bradshaw, but I think the Packers' passing game will be more effective than the Giants'. Look for Al Harris to bump Plaxico on the line EVERY play as Plax's ankle is still tenuous.

4. Giants' secondary is banged up and I think the Packers can throw on them anyway. I think they will go with four wideouts a lot, which will be tough for the Giants to match up.

I think the Giants' running game is legit and can cause the Packers problems. Eli is playing better and has been efficient. Their special teams won the field position game in Dallas. Their pass rush is solid. It's definitely going to be a good game.

But I like this matchup better than I did the Seattle one and obviously I like this a WHOLE lot better than going down to Dallas and winning there. Good luck SNAKE.
...well, here's the SNAKEretort...

1) how about RECENT history (re: Pittsburgh Steelers circa 2006)?...the route they took to the Big Dance was arguably more difficult than the one that the Giants will be taking this playoff season...'nuff said...next!...

2) Tampa Bay was ELECTRIC, Dallas was ELECTRIC...really, must SNAKE list all 9 games that the Jints have won on an ELECTRIC opposing team's field this year?...yeah, yeah, yeah, SNAKE knows but Lombardi Lambeau mystique or not, the 2007 Giants have proven more than road-warrior tested and worthy and will not falter in fabled Lambeau on Sunday...in the end this is and will be simply another stepping stone to bigger and better things this season...next!...
1) Comparing the Giants to the 2006 Steelers is utterly ridiculous Snake! The Steelers beat a DOMINATING Indy team, and then had a game against a REELING Denver team. Dallas was the team REELING this playoffs, and the Giants will still be on such an emotional roller coaster from Sunday, that they are due for a BIG letdown against the most dominating team in the NFC right now.

2) Tampa ELECTRIC????? (half those people are there just to get sun! )

I actually heard TWO different people today who were AT the NYG-Dallas game that the Cowboys fans weren't even into the game as they figured it would be a "cakewalk". If you think Green Bay will be that way, you are SORELY mistaken.

Eli in the cold Snake, Eli in the cold..... remember that. ;)

Down 14-0, for some reason I knew Favre was not going to start slinging it all over the field. He stayed with the offense and they went right down the field and scored to make it 14-7. McCarthy deserves a lot of credit for the way Favre and the rest of the team maintained their composure down 14-0 so quickly. I think McCarthy arriving as the head coach last year was one of the best things that could've happened for Favre here at the end of his career. Even though Favre has been around for so long, McCarthy continues to coach and advise him. Not like I'm there, but I question how much Mike Sherman did that...almost like Sherman gave Favre too much freedom based upon Favre's prior success. Not sure if you agree with that. And like you say, Favre is more prepared for defenses this year likely more so than any previous year.

Also, I know Seattle has been lousy on the road at times, but Grant had some massive holes to run through. The O-line dominated and I dont think I heard Kearney's name called the entire game.

I was shocked how Holmgrem conceded defeat as early as he did with the punts on 4th down and never using his time outs. I never did hear any of Holmgren's post game comments but would've liked to know what he said.

Going into the weekend games, I thought Green Bay had a better draw than Dallas. But it doesnt matter now since the Giants are coming to Lambeau anyway.

Thanks for sharing the experience at Lambeau from Saturday. One of these days I will fly up for a game- definitely something to look forward to! Enjoy the NFC Championship and get your beer early.
Rich Richard, welcome to Packer Country!!! :D We'll pull out a win this week.

Here's a few thoughts: The Packers not only were down 14-0, but on the next series after one first down, they faced a 3rd and 7 situation. The Seahawks blitzed and Vernand Morency picked up the linebacker beautifully, allowing Favre to step up and hit James Jones for 31 yards. From that point on, they never stopped us. It also lifted up the whole stadium to believe again, that maybe this wasn't the Atlanta playoff game all over again. But imagine what would have happened if the Seahawks had stopped us there!!! Yikes, I hate to think about it.

McCarthy and Favre have a special relationship, one he never had with Holmgren and Sherman. They reportedly watch a lot of film together and game plan together, something Favre never did in the past. McCarthy is giving Favre more freedom to check off at the line of scrimmage and to get involved in the play calling. In return, Favre has given into McCarthy and he's not forcing things this year. The only time he's done that all year is at Dallas and McCarthy wanted him to exploit the deep pass. Neither pass has apologized for that tactic yet, but it wasn't the right game plan.

McCarthy felt his bigger O-line could pound it to the smaller Seahawks and he was proven right. He stuck with the power football game plan and it worked. Tauscher manhandled Kearney and pitched a shutout as Kearney had no tackles, no assists and no hurries. And on only 25 percent of the plays did Tauscher get blocking help; the other 75 percent he took him on one-on-one. Watch his matchup vs. Strahan this week as a key to winning or losing. Clifton on the other side will have the same battle.

Holmgren punted on fourth-and-one with 12:36 left in the game and down 42-20. He conceded right then and there. After the game, he sounded like a man who was leaving the game. As many insiders said, he honestly thought he could win a Super Bowl this year and then walk away and he appears almost worn out by the journey again. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he moves into an administrative role next year. He's a great, great coach, but McCarthy won the battle of game plans this week.

Hope this helps. GO PACK!!!

I must admit that I LOVE the NFL Network's Replay of the weekend games. I watched the Packers-Seahawks game last night and it was fun to finally see that beauty on TV. As great as it was on TV, it didn't quite capture the spectacle that was inside Lambeau Field. But it really was cool and adding in the NFL Films shots and sideline audio was awesome.

Man, those third quarter snowflakes were huge on my TV set. And trust me, they were like white, silver dollars falling from the sky. One snowflake covered my entire eyepiece of my glasses. Hell, they were like blankets on my moustache!!! :D :D Okay, enough said!! :D :D

Why do I live here again?? Couldn't I just as easily do this job in sunny Arizona rather than snowy Wisconsin??

Believe it or not, we're getting hit with seven inches of snow again today and they will be digging out Lambeau Field again tomorrow. Today is almost a replica of Saturday night as it's 28 degrees and snowing heavily. The flakes aren't as big as they were in the third quarter of Saturday night's game, but it is coming down steady and isn't supposed to stop until midnight. Then the Canadian blast is supposed to move in and the forecast for Sunday keeps getting colder and colder, with wind chills now projected at 20 below.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm as big a football fan as anyone, but does it really make sense to play this game under those kind of conditions?? The next day is supposed to be much warmer. Let's move this baby to Monday Night Football and put it on prime time!! :D There's two weeks until the Super Bowl, so why not take an extra day to get the NFC Championship Game right?

I know I'm sounding like a whimp, but 20 below is 20 below. Sheesh. I may not make it through this one. I'm getting too old for this!! :D
You don't want to know the answer to that question, David, you really don't!! :D

Well, for one thing the stadium is in the middle of neighborhoods, so you're foolish to try and leave right away. Nobody EVER leaves that stadium early no matter what the score is, so everyone files out at the same time. Then it's 72,000 people all parked together. So what most people do is fire up the grills again and re-fry, as we call it. We stay another hour or hour-and-a-half after the game and soak it all in. By then the roads are cleared out and you can get in your cars and crawl home. This is the part where you don't want to know the truth.... :D
