The playoff "advantage"???

THAT WOULD BE FAIR TO WEIGH THE REGULAR SEASON MORE HEAVY. AFTER ALL IT IS 13 WEEKS VERSUS THE 3 WEEK SPRINT.

THE QUESTION IS HOW TO DO THAT?

DO YOU THINK THE REGULAR SEASON PRIZE POOL SHOULD BE A LITTLE GREATER AND PRORATE SOME OF THE PRIZES FROM THE OVERALL SPRINT?

sportsbettingman: We've gone through the reasoning behind this very topic on the WCOFF MB in depth like 6 or 7 years back, and Lenny said the main reason for the reset was to discourage and disable potential collusion.

Plain and simple.

This one is hard to believe. While it may discourage collusion in some way, the primary reason for it is that it's simply good for business to let all playoff teams have a roughly equal shot for the big prize.

Fair? Right? Even? It doesn't matter...it's good for business. I would find it hard to believe that many people would refuse to play because they're protesting how the average points are set at the beginning of the playoffs. On the other hand, you'll get many return customers who felt juiced about their playoff chances.

I remember bringing this up after the inaugeral season. Greg was open to a 1.5x avg. but definately no more than 2.

I know this is the main reason the points leader after 13 weeks is awarded a free entry.

If this rule change were in place from day one we would have a different champ every year except the 1st when GG set the points record and was 59 points ahead of 2nd place.

I still think a 2x would be best but there will be those who argue that part of the strategy is drafting for the playoffs.

That might have been true in the past but with the quick turn around in NFL defenses ( i.e. Denver) it's just not realistic.

I'd rather keep the advantage it took 13 weeks to achieve rather than hope my 3 week schedule is kind to me.

Give me MORE control of my teams during the 3 week stretch, and I am with fine with the current system.

As it is now, teams like Jules in 2006, and (name slips me) in 2007 DOMINATED for 13 weeks, and then.....POOF! In ONE week (week 14) you could see right away that neither had a chance to win the 100K. :(

Just seems unfair with so much $$$ on the line.

I'm in the camp of increasing the advantage gained over 13 weeks.

I'm also in the camp of increasing the league prizes at the expense of the overall prize.

Congrats again Golden Tornado! :D
2008- Didn't finish last overall in the Classic.
2009- Didn't finish last overall in the Classic or Primetime.

Congrats again Golden Tornado! :D 1) Absolutely agree that getting more of an advantage over the first 13 weeks is needed.

2) Absolutely disagree to reduce the overall prize. Once you go below "six figures", that is a HUGE deal, IMO (especially for new customers.....psychologically). Plus we are crowning an OVERALL CHAMPION, not league winners.

If you want higher payouts per league, play in a Super or Ultimate. You only have to beat 13 other players.....not nearly 300! ;)

Never, ever, ever award points to a FF team that hasn't earned them.

Period. Multiples award points not earned, no way.

I think you should take the average from the regular season and the average from the 3 week playoffs and add them together.
