I think we, as in those of us in favor of all-play, have made it clear over the last year and a half that all-play would be the best because every team would get to play LT2 and Shaun Alexander, etc. every week except for their bye weeks rather than 11 unlucky teams playing them once and one lucky team not playing them at all. I'm not sure I've seen a good argument against all-play except the NFFC is not in favor of it. This format is an offset to both the 200 point week and the luck of the schedule.

In summary, Team #24 has scored 371 more points than Team #273 (that’s an average of 41 more points per WEEK), but they have the same dumpy record. This example is simply an abomination made possible by H2H scheduling.

[/QUOTE]Gee, the way you describe it, this sounds like this is some sort of COMPETITION... hmmmm... wait, this IS a competition, omg, what a concept. Who would have thought that the National Championship is a competition where you need to beat your opponents. Why isn't this stated in the rules????? (Wait, I think it is) it's a good thing we have GG here to point this out, did anyone else know this was a competition??? Who would have thought you actually need to beat an opponent to actually advance in this competition???

This competition kind of sounds like it was based off of some sort of sport where you need to beat an opponent to win. Now what sport does that sound like?? It sounds like any team sport!!!! we do have teams in this event right? Yes we do.

It is too bad Greg never took into consideration that some teams may have a hard luck schedule. Maybe Greg could of had some sort of... well, I guess ways to reward teams base on performance. Shame on you Greg... Though these may seem far fetched, I have some ideas that you may want to consider in the future...

Using total points to break a W/L tie
Using total points to reward 2nd, and maybe 3rd place money
Guarantee that maybe the top % of scoring advances to the finals (I would suggest like 10%, it sounds like a reasonable number)
Use total points in the playoffs to crown the National champ

I know many of these would get resistance to implement, but I feel it would give hard luck owners some merit in this event even though they were unable to beat their opponents.

Here's a twist I'm sure few will like, but I think would be great for integrity of the concept.

Premise so that you can understand where I'm comong from:
1) That there are actually TWO contests here.
a)overall prize
b)league prizes

Separate them. Distance them apart if you can, and stick with me til the end.

Overall prize for $100K- leave it the same. Same rules, and entry requirements.

League prize -
Funny that GG says H2h sucks or whatever, but he proposes/uses h2h/pts/pts/pts/h2h/h2h for playoff format.

Let me tell you why EVERY league needs to have a 6-team playoff under the above format for the $5k prize.

I'm in LV1, with many respected owners. Some that even post here. And I see 2-3 ALREADY not trying because they are out of it. Some have not updated lineups and/or used FAAB $$ recently. That blows. That means both formats champions are not earning it to the degree they should.

I'm sure most leagues are seeing this now too.

This cheapens the integrity of the $100K prize IMO.

If there was a 6-team playoff for the league champion prize, you would have very little of the end of the season apathy.

With #1 and #2 getting 1st rd byes, they only have to win 2 games. Any #5/6 seed that wins all 3 playoff games probaly was the better team anyways and had some injury problems along the way, and could argue they had just as good a team.

With h2h taking up the last 2 spots, every game the entire year would mean so much more.

Teams RIGHT NOW would be making the same effort they made Week 1. I would say at least 50% of the teams right now are not making that effort. Teams that are 3-6 right now would still be playing like Week 1.

I'm 6-3, with two teams 8-1 and 100 points ahead of me. Anyone that knows me, knows that I'll play it out. But I also know that at least 50% of you won't, and why should you?

The odds at winning the consolation prize are remote at best. The odds at winning $5k are much, much greater.

Having h2h as the last two playoff spots ensures that all game strategies are used. There is 5x the skill in eeking out that win each week over just points only, or even play all.

When all the game strategies are used to there fullest, for ALL the weeks, you will have champions on both formats that are HARDER EARNED, which makes the game better in the long run for this event.

Please do not take the above the wrong way. Everyone in the Top 100 I'm sure is playing 100%. Major kudos to you. We need a format where the Top 260 are playing 100%. There will always be 10% lame azz ducks.

In summary, the overall prize does not change, but the league playoffs ensure greater competiton that would strengthen the results of both.

h2h, pts, pts, pts, h2h, h2h is an ideal way to accomplish this.

HARDER EARNED = HIGHER RETENTION RATE.

p.s.

The other thing playoffs form is rivalries for years to come.

Of course, pts only is far more appealing than that.
