The hell with all of you guys who bid me up on all the Packers I wanted, especially Tom!! I kept looking for the bargains to come and they never did. Plus Steimetz kept holding onto his money, so there were no bargains at the end, either. The whole thing was a disaster and I deserve the punishment that I'll get this year.

Yeah, everyone is saying how much they love their teams. Screw that. I HATE THIS TEAM!! Maybe reverse psychology will work on this team.

I went in hoping to get one of the top 4 RB's and then a low-end WR1, kind of like I was drafting from the 3rd spot in a 12-team draft. I even threw out OBJ first to gauge the price structure and when he went for $38 I thought it would be a good night. But that was the last WR bargain for the next three hours, that's for sure. Everyone went for higher prices than I expected after that and I either had to pay or go home. I spent too much early and basically left without a third round pick. My bad. Cobb at $41 isn't a homer pick; I wanted any number of WR1s before that but kept dropping out at $39 and with Cobb as the last of the elite tier I overpaid or would have missed out completely. No good either way.

The WR2 and RB2 values were much higher than expected and I think we all struggled to fill those spots at affordable prices. I eventually gave up on RB2s and tried to load up on a lot of WR3s, hoping for the best. We'll see if it's enough, but it will be tough.

It was an enjoyable battle, however, and it was a fantastic group of owners. Kudos to the RT Sports auction site because it's easy to use and very reliable. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who wants to do online auctions this year. I got caught several times bidding +$1 right after an owner umped the bid by several dollars and it cost me a QB I wasn't targeting as I was patiently waiting for Romo, who later went for $7.

But all good fun. NO chance for this team, but maybe we'll do another one of these later this off-season. Thanks all.

funny you mention the 3rd pick in a 12 team draft Greg...i have that pick tonight..it was my LAST KDS and I absolutely hate it!

As Sack mentioned, was fun watching you and Tom battle it out for players...and then the derrogatory remarks afterwards:)

I'll get rosters loaded to NFFC this morning and will send a note out when done to the group.

I'll also set up a few auctions in the second half of July............a few newbies were reaching out the last few days and want to give it a try.

Google docs live updating last night was fun. we had several observers and also had some chatting in there as well. we should use that more often on leagues you want to "display".

I thought there were some decent prices in the WR1 and RB1. Based on previous auctions, I would say Beckham, A.Brown, Nelson, Bryant, D.Thomas, L.Bell, C.J. Anderson, McCoy, and Forte went a buck or two lower than usual. For WR2 and RB2 I don't see any bargains. Maybe A.Morris and J.Stewart were a buck cheaper than normal. It was tough going there.

I always think it is interesting if you convert the auction prices to a snake draft and see what their position would be. The first round would have looked like this. Very interesting. It makes the running backs look like better deals.

1 Julio Jones $42
2 Antonio Brown $41
3 Randall Cobb $41
4 Adrian Peterson $40
5 Demaryius Thomas $39
6 Dez Bryant $39
7 Calvin Johnson $39
8 Jamaal Charles $38
9 Odell Beckham $38
10 Mike Evans $38
11 T.Y. Hilton $38
12 Andrew Luck $38

After Beckham went for $38 to kick off the auction I thought for sure this group of WRs would go for around $25. Crazy that Hopkins and Cooks went for what they did - and I like both guys a lot. But only a couple bucks less than guys like Dez and ODB? Wow.

At a certain point in an auction you have to make a decision to dive in and make sure you get a 1st rounder, a 2nd rounder, a 3rd rounder, etc., or you're left with a lot of 8th round players. Sometimes you have to pay more for that player at that time in the auction or you're left with all the money and no superstars to bid on. I agree with Jim that some of the WR1's were bargains because nobody expected the WR2's to go for $30 and up. But they sure did. And it didn't pay to wait until the end to spend because Jim and Bryan had all the money. It was tough, but this is why auctions are so much fun.

And I agree with Andy that targeting the #3 pick in our 3RR format isn't desireable, but in an auction I was hoping for more after landing an RB1 and a WR1 and just failed to secure that third round talent. That's on me.

I was happy with the results for the most part. I got two Top 5-10 picks (Lacy and Dez with Dez proving to be a very nice value) a proven QB1 at a solid price (Brees) and the TE I really wanted for only a slight overpay (Kelce). In retrospect I could've pushed harder for guys like Ellington and Gordon at RB2 (over Hyde) and Edelman and Tate at WR2 (over Allen) but that would've likely prevented me from getting some bargains at the end that I liked such as Cruz and Bush. I'm relying on some value plays a little more than ideally I'm comfortable doing but all of them have the potential to be solid contributors so I'm not too concerned at this time. But we'll see how it all plays out. :)

I will say that I'm going all in with Cruz right now as a value pick so I specifically was saving money to be sure I got him near the end. This may blow up in my face if he's a shell of his former self but I'm going to gamble that he can get healthy and if he does this is a proven Top 15 WR with great talent who won't be the focus of opposing defenses any longer. I really believe if healthy he can be the Roddy White to Beckham's Julio Jones in the Giants' offense.

Thought it was $8. Either way, that's a serious gift.
