not to pick on you...but i took a 2nd look, and i would disagree with your above statements. you only pick your players, much like you fund or whatever you invest in. their performance is totally out of your control. But you pick your players, you pick the lineup every week, and you decide who you add and subtract, essentially controlling every decision for your team. My stock portfolio is gambling or the politically correct term, investing in the hope that others will make the right decisions.
But to get back on topic, no need to change the payout, just need to decide which is a better judge of skill to earn the $5K, managing 13 weeks to win games or managing 13 weeks to accumulate the most points. I choose points because it takes the random luck of the schedule out of play.

If only points, we need to throw out the high and the low score for every team as there are always abberations. This would leave the best, most consistent team as #1.

You're damaging your credibility with this topic. let's say that after week 14 and week 15 two teams (Team New and Team Old) are averaging 190 pts in the NFFC playoffs. the next best team is at 160. should Team New and Team Old make a deal to split-up the grand prize if either of them won? $100,000 vs $15,000?
damaging my credibility? thanks for the chuckle

Let me clarify...
I play because I think I have a chance to win money. I would not play in a game where I thought my knowledge or playing style would make me a big underdog.
That being said, do I have fun when I play, you bet I do, but that's not WHY I play.
For example, I would not play in a hockey or basketball high stakes league because my knowledge would make me a huge underdog. Would I have fun trying? Sure.
I'm close enough in baseball to give it a try, but I concede I'm really an underdog in baseball.
As for this week, Tamus, anything can happen but I won't be watching closely as I'm in the playoffs and a win or loss won't have much impact (except for bragging rights). My concentration will be on the main event where I'm going for 3rd place holding about a 20 point edge over my closest rival and the Auction where again I have a lock for the playoffs but the chance for a round 1 bye is still alive.

I'm still considering my baseball activities, Gordon. So many nice choices, but I do prefer auctions. I just wish I knew more about how to win a roto style game.
Roto is a funny animal. Is a 4 category good player better than a 3 category stud? I have no idea how to measure that other than published $ amounts. I've tried some of my own algorithms but I'm not sure it was any better than the mags. I can easily tell a 250 point RB is better than a 200 point RB but what if that 200 point RB could get you 25 steals, lol. So I'm really struggling and it will cost me lots of money to get good
