Who's Coming To The 2006 NFFC And Where?

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Tue Apr 04, 2006 2:57 am

We're glad to welcome back another defending league champion from 2005 to the 2006 main event as Calvin Suer of Metarie, Louisiana will be returning to the New York Hilton on Saturday, September 2nd. Cal was caught in Louisiana during Hurricane Katrina last year, but was able to have his daughter, Michelle, in New York and the conversed with her during the draft. The father-daughter combination worked to perfection as they led Team Suer to a 10-3 finish in New York League 3 with 1,581 points, earning $5,000 for the top league record. Team Suer didn't win the $100,000 grand prize in the Championship Round as it settled for 415.82 points, but it was a good run nonetheless. Welcome back Cal and Michelle, and best of luck this year in the hunt for the $5,000 league prize and the $100,000 grand prize.

I'm glad to welcome another new member to the growing NFFC family as Ed O'Donnell of Hopkinton, Massachusetts has agreed to come to the New York Hilton on Sept. 1-2 to compete in the $650 Auction League and the main event. Ed joined the National Fantasy Baseball Championship this year for the first time and had so much fun that he's going to join us for football now. Ed becomes our 15th owner in New York for the main event and our eighth owner for the Auction League as we should fill that one easily. Welcome aboard Ed and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize, the $5,000 league prize and the $4,000+ in available auction league prizes.

We're glad to welcome back an original member of the NFFC family as William Hare of Cumming, Georgia will be joining us again for the NFFC's main event on Saturday, Sept. 2nd at the Stardust Resort & Casino in Las Vegas and for the $650 Auction League on Friday, Sept. 1st. William has competed in Chicago the last two years with partner Drew Masse, but he's decided to go to Las Vegas this year, while I hear that Drew will keep a team in Chicago. I love those kind of divorces! :D William and Drew led their Clinton Street Steagles to a third place finish in Chicago League 4 last year with an 8-5 record, earning $500. They missed out on an additional $2,000 and a trip to the Championship Round when one team leapfrogged them in Week 13, but they still finished 48th overall in total points and then scored 445.48 points in the Consolation Round. Welcome back, William, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize, the $5,000 league prize and the $4,000+ in auction league prizes.

We're glad to welcome yet another original team back to the NFFC in 2006 as the tag team of Richard and Michael Duewel of Moline, Illinois will be returning for a third straight season to the Oakbrook Marriott in Chicago for the NFFC's main event on Saturday, Sept. 2nd. Richard and Michael did so well in Year One that they qualified for a free team in 2005 with a strong post-season performance, but last year their DAWG N HOGG team slipped to a 5-8 record in Chicago League 5, finishing 206th overall with 1,449.1 points. They become our ninth official signup in the Windy City as we look to top the five leagues we had there last year. Welcome back, guys, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.

We're glad to welcome back one of our most successful owners in our high-stakes events as Stephen Jupinka of Waldwick, New York has signed up to compete again in the NFFC's main event at the New York Hilton on Saturday, Sept. 2nd. Stephen has won two league titles in our National Fantasy Baseball Championship during our two seasons there and he won his first NFFC league title last year, fortunately finishing 10-3 in New York League 7 to win the $5,000 first place prize. The Quahogs finished with 1,529.85 points and then finished with 410.94 points in the Championship Round in a season filled with close victories. Welcome back, Stephen, and best of luck once again in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.

Let's give it up for our 42nd team from 2005 to rejoin the NFFC's main event in 2006 as Brent Grooms of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin has signed up to compete at the Oakbrook Marriott in Chicago again on Saturday, Sept. 2nd. Brent and his brother, Mark, teamed up to lead No Balls No Babies to an 8-5 record in Chicago League 2 last year, finishing 56th overall with 1,653.15 points. No Balls No Babies then scored 508.32 points in the Consolation Round to finish 46th overall there. Brent has signed up alone this year as it's possible that Mark will grab his own team this year. I hate when those fantasy divorces happen. :D Welcome back, Brent, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.

We're honored to welcome back our Consolation Round champions from 2005 as Eric and Chad Lundquist of Elk River, Minnesota have signed up to compete again in the NFFC's main event on Saturday, Sept. 2nd at the Oakbrook Marriott in Chicago. Eric and Chad led their It's Time Again team to a third place finish in Chicago League 1 with 1,699.4 points and a 7-6 record. They won $500 there and finished 39th overall, just missing the Championship Round by a few spots. It's Time Again then set a single week scoring record in Week 14 and went on to win $2,500 in the Consolation Round with a three-week total of 659.38 points. Congrats on a great season guys and best of luck once again this year in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.

We're glad to welcome another veteran gamer back to the NFFC as Salvatore Vella of Staten Island, New York will again be joining us on Saturday, Sept. 2nd at the New York Hilton for the NFFC's main event. Sal just needs a reminder that we're doing another contest and he signs up as he's a regular in our NFFC and NFBC contests each year. In 2005, Team Vella struggled badly in New York League 6, finishing 3-10 with 1,305.6 points. But have no fear, Sal is ready to dive back in and he's predicting a money finish this year! Welcome back, Sal, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize and the $5,000 league prize.
