We’ve had our battles in the past, and I’m prepared to let them go. You’ve proven not only to me, but to everyone else here, you know your stuff when it comes to fantasy football. You just won two league championships last year. You are in prime position to amass incredible accolades this year. If you have great finishes again this year, you will be considered one of the best fantasy football players in the country. I ask that you keep your message board talk above the belt and let your fantasy football success do the talking on the message boards. Personal attacks have to be a thing of the past for both of us. Even though we're now having fun with this thread, I do want to say thanks to Mark for making this post and to Glenn for showing good sportsmanship in return. I've already told Mark that I couldn't have written this post better myself and it hits on all the points I've tried to make about these boards, our sandbox, if you will.

When we all came together in 2004 EVERY one of us wanted to prove we were the best fantasy football player in the country. And so the smack talk began and it was fun and it was innocent. And the 14-team league format was rather new so even when some folks won and others lost there were reasons (or excuses) for that. And the fun smack talking even led to a three-city challenge that made things more fun and somewhat escalated the smack talking.

One person told me the other day that those were "the good ol' days." But I think some people forget that we still had individual petty feuds that involved 1% of the participants and took up 60% of our posts. And from there we created cliques and divisions and Hatfields vs. McCoys. It was all silly and unnecessary.

Now we have a set of Etiquette Rules and we have a post from Mark that hits everything on the head. It's time to leave the personal attacks out of the smack talking and it's time to congratulate those who are coming off great seasons. Glenn and Dan Thomas were the only NFFC members to win league titles in both formats last year and they have a chance to make it 4-for-4 this year, which would really be an unbelievable accomplishment. You don't have to like (or even read) Snake's posts, but at the end of the day he did prove his mettle last year in two very tough leagues and he's all football, 24/7 this year from what I can tell.

So congrats to all past winners and let's move forward with a fun board that still includes plenty of smack talking, plenty of ribbing and plenty of male testosterone bragging (ladies are allowed to do that too!!

). Let's just keep the personal attacks and crap out of it.

Thanks all. The NFFC playground is again open for business and pleasure.

And one final point from me: As for playing in other fantasy events, I think everyone knows me well enough by now that I would never be upset with any of our members for adding to their hobby pleasures. You have to remember that when the NFFC debuted in 2004 Lenny and Emil saw us as competition to their well-established event and so even the mention of the NFFC was barred from their boards. If you tried to type in NFFC on the WCOFF boards back then it came up as ****. Some of our guys played both games so they would still talk about us on the WCOFF boards and say "yeah, I'm drafting in Las Vegas the weekend before in the En-Ef-Ef-See."

Honestly.

Nothing against Lenny because he was trying to protect his asset and I totally understand, but it's funny to think about those times now. Good stuff.

Move forward to today and our NFFC Primetime champion, Dave Gerczak, runs a competing event the weekend after ours and remains a good friend and is back for the NFFC doubleheader this year. Many of our guys are playing over there as well. No problem with folks spending their money in both areas. Heck, Tom and I played in the WCOFF two years ago and Jesse and Dustin played in the NFFC that year and remain in the NFBC today. We're good friends and I wish them the best this year as well.

I just want our guys to play in games where they KNOW they are going to get paid. One NFFC Charter Member e-mailed me yesterday to say he can't return to the NFFC this year because times are tough in Michigan and he's still owed $6,000 by Fantasy Jungle.com. That was going to be his money to play in the NFFC this year. That s*it really gets to me and to guys like him.

Be careful with who you play with this year, that's all I ask. Good luck all and win in all the formats you've entered, but first and foremost, win here!!

Love this thread. The NFFC forums may have to be one of the first clicks favorites for me again.

This thread combined with some real pre season action to watch last night has me pumped for the first weekend in Sept.

This certainly has been one wild 5 years on these boards with the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I've said this NUMEROUS times, but after 5 years of this contest, there truly is not a better game in town! The 14 team format decreases the LUCK factor considerably from a 12 teamer (IMO). I know there are people out there who are intimidated or say the format is "too tough", but I for one LOVE the competition, and welcome the challenge each year of what I consider the BEST fantasy minds in the industry here at the NFFC.

We have people here with all different kinds of personalities, people who experiense success each year, people who have had success one year and struggled in the others, people who play in just the live events, people who play in just satellites, and people who play in every event they can!

Once the smoke all clears at the end of the day, the fact is we ALL share one thing in common....

We LOVE the 14 team format (and the 12 too, but the 14 teamer is what will ALWAYS make the NFFC what it is IMO), and we all could sit for hours just talking about fantasy football. Every year, we all hit on players, we all miss on players, and while sometimes our egos can get the best of us, and we often don't see "eye to eye", I think we all respect each other's efforts and accomplishments in the NFFC.

Respecting each other's efforts and accompishments has not always been evident here, but I can feel the winds of change blowing in!

Here is to a GREAT 2009 (and beyond) in the NFFC!!
