Re: Results of NFFC Rules Survey
For the Classic, I was one of those 3rd place in its league teams that lost his spot to a lower scoring team that happened to win our H2H title. This team of mine also happened to be the one that fell the closest of any in the contest to the 15% cutline to miss out on the Overall playoffs..... by only 2 points. Man, I really liked that team and wanted to see it make the Overall chase.
Yet, I don't feel that team deserved to be in at all. It didn't meet any of the requirements that would have got it in.
Cutlines are arbitrary. There's no right or wrong, it's all opinion. My opinion is that the cutline should remain stringent. I don't think a change is necessary.
If you make a change, just allow any 3rd place team that lost its spot to a lower scoring H2H winner in the overall. That would more than make up for any perceived "unlucky" breaks.

I feel for you Glenn; it happened to me a couple years ago too - 7.8 behind and tied for H2H at 10-3.
Again though, my point wasn't to stir this up again to push my proposal. But compared to the alternative that could be implemented, which would you rather see - ALL 3rd high scorers make it regardless of how far behind 2nd they are or my proposal? If you don't feel like your team that missed by 2 points deserved it, how are you and others going to feel when teams who were 100 points behind make it?![Shocked ](./images/smilies/icon_eek.gif)

I would rather see your proposal, Mike (the lesser of two SERIOUS evils, IMO).Sandman62 wrote:I feel for you Glenn; it happened to me a couple years ago too - 7.8 behind and tied for H2H at 10-3.

However, is it seriously being considered that THREE teams are getting in?
That being said, your proposal IS difficult to understand for the average person. And once you set it at 2% or 30 points (even you had difficulty deciding), how long till someone wants 40 points or 3%???
PLEASE just leave it as is......if you don't like the current setup, there are other high stakes contests and plenty of ESPN and Yahoo leagues where 33% - 50% of the league get in!

Re: Results of NFFC Rules Survey
BTW, Greg said that there were only FOUR teams that missed out due to lower-scoring H2H winners. So at most, FOUR more teams would've made the playoffs. By my proposal, maybe even less.CALI CARTEL wrote:I just don't get it, some of you aren't gonna be happy until everyone qualifies for the playoffs.
How is that a "SERIOUS evil"?

Re: Results of NFFC Rules Survey
Let's compare the NFFC's 15% cutline to the other high stakes contest's cutline. Anyone know what their % is?
Re: Results of NFFC Rules Survey
Billy, I had no "trouble" setting it.
I'd just use a percentage. The only reason I included points was for those who don't like the percent.
Again, I got the impression that Greg had made up his mind on this and next year ALL 3rd high scorers that would normally miss due to a lower-scoring H2H winner will now make it. Did I misinterpret? If not, then I agree with others that leaving it as is would be better than that. I'm certainly not advocating letting in teams who are 80-100 points back from 2nd.

Re: Results of NFFC Rules Survey
I hear ya Mike. It probably is a fairer proposal (though overcomplicated
). J/K. The problem is you've got to put the line somewhere and no matter where you put it, someone will always be just outside it. This year it was me, hopefully next year it'll be someone else, but every year it will be somebody.

Re: Results of NFFC Rules Survey
I know FFPC is far less (honestly not sure), but in the FPC online contest there was NO % and the 14th overall team (Mike Santos) out of over 4000 teams DIDN'T get in. The FPC has said they are looking at the top 30 overall being guaranteed to get in for next year. So if they had same number of entries as this past season, that means that not even the top ONE% are guaranteed to get in!Don Draper wrote:Let's compare the NFFC's 15% cutline to the other high stakes contest's cutline. Now they do let 4 teams into both the FPC and FFPC main event in a H2H style format. Only TWO are guaranteed to get in, and you have to "win your way in" otherwise.
Their online championship had I believe 824 team in the championship round this year.
I hope the NFFC NEVER gets their online contest that big (and if it does, they split it like a stock).
Re: Results of NFFC Rules Survey
So the NFL and the NBA have no clue and should basically squash their playoff system because it doesn't work, doesn't grow the league, and is a complete failure?
The top 3 (points) teams in each Classic league should make the playoffs, regardless of H2H. If the H2H team was in the top 3, then only 3 teams would make it from that league. It is fair, only allows a handful of additional teams in, and still is not even close to other contests allowing 33-50% of teams in the playoffs.
If 3-4 teams make the overall playoffs in each league, out of 14 teams, that is far from being watered down and, keeping teams interested, farther into the season, can only help in some of the issues such as owners giving up on their teams and not setting their lineups.
If this decision is made, it is absolutely the correct one, in my opinion..

Re: Results of NFFC Rules Survey
So the NFFC cutline is 15% and the other contest's cutline is 0%
if the cutline % is important in the minds of fantasy owners, i'm assuming there will be a flood of new nffc entrants next year.
