I love the Grant pick for Greg. Insane value for one of the few productive non-committee RBs in the league. The guy is a good RB but remains undervalued.

Greg,

I want to return the draft analysis back to your Chris Johnson pick. Everyone is automatically annointing him as the # 1 pick without any regard for his potential hold out.

Am curious if you have any concern about his contract situation?

I know that his contract situation is such that he would be out of his tree if he does not report to camp by August 10, but what if he doesn't report? You could eventually be looking at a rich man's 2008 Ryan Grant.

You're not going to lose your league title if you take AP as your # 1 pick instead of CJ. But you could lose your league title if you are wrong about CJ.

With his contract situation, I just think he is going # 1 in too many drafts. I'm not sure I would touch him with a top-4 pick in an early satelite draft. Is it worth ruining the rest of your draft?

I wanted to see what I could do taking Brees in the first round as he has not gotten back to me in this spot so far this summer. I happen to think I'm loaded with 5 Saints and the Cowboy RB's but just my opinion.

If I could have gotten Rivers and Grant at the 3-4 turn I would have been golden. Rivers went right before me
Imo, the team that took Rivers in front of you did you a favor. I believe everyone is either downplaying or just plain ignoring what the loss of v Jax and, probably just as important, Marcus McNeil will do to the FF value of Rivers. His best WR and his all pro LT. I wouldn't be surprised to see him fall out of the top 10 FF QB's if both those situations linger into the season; especially if they both hold out through week 10 and/or V Jax is traded.

Of course you didn't take advantage of the favor with the Ryan pick.
True, the VJax news should lower Rivers's value. I guess I could have taken Schaub there instead, but at that point I went Gates.

Tom and I were just talking about Grant now. I have no problem taking him at pick 42 as my second back in a 14-team format. I didn't think I had a shot at a good RB2 there. While Grant isn't flashy, the Packers will still run the ball enough and there are no other options to replace him. Brandon Jackson is nothing. All the young kids they have they won't trust in key situations. So it's Grant's job and he can get it done, easily. I see him a lot and I think he's a solid back, but there's no doubt that they can score in the Red Zone without him, which limits his TD value.

But no problems with taking him there.
lol... I wasn't referring to Ryan Grant (although by passing on him in the 3rd you can interpret how much I like him) I was referring to Matt Ryan. Thought you had better choices at QB at the 5/6 turn.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Addai and Forte at the 4-5 turn. I'm not sure that is reality come labor day. It would be nice wouldn't it???

Greg,

Not a fan of the Matt Ryan pick, but I really like the rest. Sidney at the end of round 2 is very nice value, and getting Grant with the last pick of the 3rd is even BETTER value!

Gates and Maclin are also nice adds....nicely done! :D

I know this draft was a glorified mock and done in early July, but it has me SERIOUSLY reconsidering my KDS!

EDIT: You may want to do some random drug testing at Fanball....Tom taking Favre....IN THE 4TH!!! Yeah, I held off on QBs and made a tough choice. I just couldn't take Cutler there and then took Ryan over Kolb and McNabb. Who would you have taken there?
In no particular order...

Kolb, E.Manning, Cutler, or waited a round and held out for Flacco.

It's all personal preference anyhow....I just don't like Ryan as much.
McNabb didn't even make your list. What kind of a Redskins fan are you? :D
I just have season tickets to the skins...I'm a Steelers fan.

When I go to the skins games it is STRICTLY rooting for my players! :D

Best part is at least they are getting a 100 ft HD screen and fantasy updates. Last year was like watching a 24 inch tv and not knowing what the hell else was going on in the NFL!

William, I had the first pick on Monday in a non-PPR mock draft and took AP first, basically saying the possible holdout did weigh in my decision. But the lack of PPR also swayed my decision because honestly I believe he needs to report by Aug. 10th and will report by then, happy or not. With our NFFC scoring rules for this mock draft, I did consider the holdout before taking CJ, but really feel this will be resolved.

You make a good point and it will be a tough decision if this gets nasty, but it's going to be awfully tough to also pass on CJ. The only way I'd pass is if I really felt this is going to be a long in-season holdout and with only two years in the NFL I don't see him having the leverage to hold out into the regular season. Just my two cents.
