2009 NFFC Primetime Signup List: 276 Teams, 23 Full Leagues

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Mar 05, 2009 3:48 am

Congratulations to Dave Gerczak of Appleton, Wisconsin as he won the debut NBC Sports NFFC Primetime main event and the $100,000 grand prize last year. Dave has been with the NFFC each of the last three years and his Leroy's Aces team was a dominating force in 2008 as it won Chicago League 2 and then swept through the Championship Round in Weeks 14-16 to win the $100,000 grand prize. Congrats Dave as you were dominant in this 12-team format.

While 2008 was a great year with 252 teams in the NFFC Primetime main event and another 308 teams in the NFFC Classic, we needed to tweak our format to keep the doubleheader alive and well in today's tough economy. We will continue to host the main event doubleheader on Saturday, Sept. 5th in Las Vegas, New York, Chicago and online, but this year we are making the second event – NBC Sports NFFC Primetime – an event with a $750 entry fee and a guaranteed $40,000 grand prize. We are shooting for only 300 teams and will expand the grand prize proportionately if we go above that total.

We are ready to sell this event out and will provide a bonus prize for anyone who can win both main events and a bonus for the top scoring team among the two main events. Dave came the closest to winning last year's $1 million bonus as he finished 1st in the NFFC Primetime and 10th in the NFFC Classic. Great job Dave.

We opened the signup page last week (just click on the REGISTER link on the right-hand side of the new NBC Sports NFFC home page) and are taking signups now. Remember, you can sign up for any NFFC league now and we won't hit your credit card until August 1st. You can also save $100 if you sign up for the NFFC Classic and NFFC Primetime main events before July 1st ($2,050 for both instead of $2,150). I'll add each new signup to this thread as they come in, so check here to see who is officially signed up and ready to compete in each of our events.

Okay, it's appropriate that Dave Gerczak is our first official signup of 2009. Who can possibly knock him off his throne this year!! :D Can he possibly be the first person to ever win back-to-back NFFC titles? Let's find out.

Here's the list to date and good luck everyone:

3' Haha.. very funny... I knew there was a reason I needed to be monitoring what was going on here in message board land! I loved that team I had last year in our league! At least I can enjoy the sensation of knowing I was the lone team to make the postseason via the wildcard... Do I get a tee shirt for that?
