More Changes Coming In Carolina?

We all know the Panthers fired their GM on Monday but head coach Ron Rivera hinted that more changes may be forthcoming. The most noticeable one may be at RB. In Week 7, DeAngelo Williams was demoted to third string and played only five snaps. Jonathan Stewart got the start and led the backfield in touches with 13 while Mike Tolbert was the primary backup and got the team's only TD run on a goal-line look.

The Charlotte Observer believes Williams may be in the doghouse and that's why he was demoted on Sunday. With the trade deadline approaching (it's on Oct. 30), perhaps the Panthers will try and deal Williams if they can find a taker. But it's important to note that in-season trades are extremely rare in the NFL so I would be very surprised if Williams was dealt.

But for those owning Stewart, Williams and even Tolbert all of this bears watching going forward.

How bad do you think it will be for us Cam owners this week in Chicago, Tom?

So bad I'm leaning towards using Hasselbeck

If the Panthers go into the game attempting to run the ball 30-35 times it might not be too bad.

Assuming they go in with the same approach we've seen in their first six games it could ugly. Real ugly.

Honestly, though, this isn't hard. You have a struggling QB and two very talented RBs. Even if Williams has fallen out of favor you still have Stewart, who in my opinion is an exceptional talent, and a competent backup in Tolbert. RUN THE DAMN BALL. And not with those stupid read option plays. Line up and run it like an NFL team. You're paying Stewart $800 million per year (give or take a penny or two). USE HIM. Take the pressure off your struggling quarterback and reduce the burden on him to make every play in the game.

I realize the challenge in terms of going to Chicago and facing that defense. But this seems to be the easiest plan of attack for any team this week other than possibly the Packers, who just have to show up on Sunday in order to win. The plan may not work but at least it's a far more intelligent approach than what you've been doing.

With the way this NFL season has gone, I'm pretty certain that Carolina drops 35 points on Chicago this weekend.

Start your Panthers WITH CONFIDENCE

I was thinking the same thing Glenn!
[and we drafted them as our DST1 on 4 teams and DST2 on another, so not a jealousy issue]

But really, how long can this joy ride last? All season would be nice, but is it "Regression to the mean" time :?:

Full disclosure: We do have both CAR RBs in both of our main events. So we sure could use some help in that department. If there's any chance that Deangelo does get traded, to where? Jacksonville? Green Bay? :?
