Seeking Feedback From Draft Champions Members
One event that we haven't had much discussion on since Draft Day is the Draft Champions League. I realize that after Draft Day you just watch the results pour in and the healthiest team has the best chance to win the league title, but how about some feedback from this year's participants to help outsiders like me get a feel for how this went. Is it something you would do again? Was it fun on Draft Day and anticlimactic the rest of the way? Are the races still tight or are there runaways?
Any feedback would help me as we plan accordingly for 2005. Thanks everyone.

I'd play again and I'm currently in last place. I enjoy the format and prepping for that draft made all of the other drafts easier IMHO.
My fault was Steve McNair, Clinton Portis, Duce Staley, Joe Nedney, Brian Westbrook, Brad Johnson, etc. etc... but nothing wrong with the format, I just made bad choices.

I was frustrated after the DC draft as I knew I had little chance. With 14 teams the late drafting teams have no chance to get 3 starting RBs and have to hope to pick the right backup for an injured starter. If 1 of your 2 RBs gets hurt, well, big time problem.
In this format the 12 versus 14 issue is more apparent. There were about 30 RBs worth drafting early and they went in the first 2 1/2 rounds. With 12 teams there would have been a serviceable back at the end of round 3 with some teams taking a top QB or WR early. Clearly RBs like Droughns, Henry, Hoover, Mewelde Moore, Nick Goings, etc. are not factors in a contest like this. Not having depth at RB can't be overcome on the one hand, and is impossible to get for late rounders on the other hand. So it's frustrating.
With the same situation in the Main League, I opted to go for stud WRs from the 12th draft slot and I hoped to get RBs from the WW in time to save my season. That did indeed happen as I finished 3rd. In DC, with no WW available, I took the best RBs available (Barlow and Dom. Davis, yuck) because it was then or never. I know, I could have had Tiki...hindsight is easy, isn't it.
Because of the great competition and excitement of the Main and Auction events, The DC became an afterthought. If I had done better (now 10th, drafted 11th), it might have been more fun.
I'd be back for a 12 team league where my carefully prepared draft strategy might be executable but I don't think I'd play again in this format.

The draft part was great ... I could see going a few more roster spots ... maybe 26 or even 28. It is nice to be able to draft a good team and not mess it up with activations ( I guess that is an indication of how well we activated players in the auction league this year!)
Personally ... we had a strong team ... but after losing Griffin early ... and Holmes latter (our first and second round draft picks) and playing without a QB the last couple of weeks (Brad Johnson and Jeff Garcia are my two starters) it has been tough taking zeros at QB and RB. With that in mind ... we just dropped out of first place this week with a 199.9 week 13 performance from Team Gilfoyle (now in first).
We are still within 25 points of first ... but desperately need Garcia and Holmes (or L Johnson) to play instead of Blaylock ... or we will be more concerned with holding on to second and give up on any shot at first.
It's been fun and I would do it again ...

I thought is was great and I bombed in it. I picked 13th in the DC. I picked 14th in the main draft. Having never played in any format like this, I got a $600 lesson. I re-evalulated after it. It helped enough to still be alive in the main event.
