Explain to me how the season standings in the online work

Post by boli34 » Thu Aug 22, 2013 9:07 pm

These were 2 teams in my online leagues last season. One I played for the league championship and the other I didn't.

League 1:

Woulda Coulda Shoulda - x (1) 10 3 0 2306.2
MANKIND and the BIG WEEZY - y (2) 7 6 0 2222.3
The Dumpster Slayers - z (3) 9 4 0 1883 (MY TEAM)

League 2:

Oak OL 1 - x (1) 8 5 0 2324.9
Strohmboli34 - y (2) 7 6 0 2330.95 (MY TEAM)
Turtle Soup 8 5 0 1837.45
Glenneration X 8 5 0 1772.5
Rakkasans 3 8 5 0 1751.9
Voice of Reason 2 7 6 0 1823.3

So the 9-4 team didn't play for the league title but the 7-6 team did. I'm confused as to how it works. SIDE NOTE: it was a tragedy that I was 7-6 although being the highest scoring team in the league and having 2330.95 points.

Two teams play each other in the championship if the team who had the most points was different than the team who had the best record. In League 2 you had the most points but another team had the best record so you played them in the championship. In League 1 it appears the team who had the most points also had the best record so they were automatically the league champion regardless of weeks 14-16.

We try to do our best in rewarding the most money to the best team and thus we take into account head-to-head record and total points through a long, 13-week regular season. We reward the following:

$700 to best head-to-head record through Week 13
$700 to best total points team through Week 13

If the same team accomplished both they get the entire league prize of $1,500 after Week 13
If two different teams won h2h and most points, then they compete in Weeks 14-16 for the remaining $800. It's total points in that league playoff for the prize.

In your examples above, the software is showing your total points through Week 16 for the top two teams. I'm not sure exactly what it looked like before both of those teams went into the Week 14-16 playoffs. But it's possible that Woulda Coulda Shoulda won h2h and total points after Week 13 and won the entire league prize, while it looks like in League 2 two teams split the Week 13 prizes and needed to compete in Weeks 14-16 for the league title.

I hope that helps. Good luck this year.
