Since it resulted in a safety isnt that a fumble lost and should be minus points?

Its obvious it was a negative play for the team that resulted in pts for the other team.

Sorry if i am missing something.

the fumble wasn't recovered by the other team so therefore wasn't 'lost' so I am not sure it should be.

No it's not. The ball was never recovered by Indy. It was fumbled out of bounds and therefore not considered a turnover. The fact that it happened in the end zone doesn't change that.

Might be something to look at...I mean if a play results in POINTS for the OTHER team it should count against you ...no?

Thanks

The other posts have it right. The fumble was not recovered by Indy and therefore there is no point deduction. It is as if Manning fumbled the ball out of bounds without the opposing team recovering the ball. There is no point deduction in that case. That it was a safety (i.e. fumbled through the end zone) makes no difference.

Since Randle does not get credit for a TD on a punt return, why is he penalized for losing a fumble on a punt return? I have never considered the "only downside" in terms of point issues in having a player who played on special teams.

He would get credit for a TD under the new rule - From the rules - "NEW FOR 2013: Individual players who also score a TD on special teams will receive 6 points for their fantasy teams."

He would get credit on a punt return TD. All individual players are now awarded TDs for special teams touchdowns if they score on a return. We added that rule for this season.
