Changes needed in defensive/ST scoring?

Post by BillyWaz » Fri Sep 19, 2014 9:13 am

After watching the horrific display of "defense" put on by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last night, it is downright WRONG that they scored 15 points for fantasy.

I'm not sure if this has even been talked about over the years, but how would people feel about LOSING (negative points) for points allowed??? Totally spitballing off the top of my head, it could be something like this;

30-39 points allowed = -2
40-49 points allowed = -5
50+ points = -10

For the record, I did not start Tampa Bay or play against them in any leagues. I just feel when you looked as horrible as them and get a "pick 6" late in the game, and end up with 15 points, it is ridiculous.

Under my proposed format, they would of received 5 points (which is probably about 15 too many).

It wouldn't affect many games at all, but it would certainly penalize a pitiful defense. If you allow over 50 points....there should be no possible way you get POSITIVE points at all in my book, but at least this would contain that a bit.

Just a thought.... :D

I would be in agreement with this change. A little bit ridiculous when tb gives up that many points, but get rewarded like a top tier def.

Definitely agree...

Would help make defenses more of a strategic position as well. Right now you can take any defense and hope they get a couple picks and a couple sacks. If you had to worry about Points Allowed it'd change things.

As long as you can also implement at the same time that DSTs only get charged with PA when the DST is actually on the field. So as horrible as TB was last night, their DST shouldn't be charged with the ATL pick-6 on TB's offense.

Nice Earmark but sounds tricky to adjust

I have always wondered why this is? I would vote for this change as well.
