Newbie Question
Online Championship. At 3-3 (leader at 5-1) and 85 points behind in points. Am I:
1. Down and out - Play the spoiler!
2. Respectable finish - Your a nice boy. Do you make your own clothes?
3. In the hunt - Nice going with Calvin Johnson and Victor Cruz as your top two drafted recievers.

Re: Newbie Question
85 points at this stage of the year is nothing. Fight for that play-off spot.

NFBC Draft Champions leagues will start the week after the World Series Wayne. Get ready for that!!Edwards Kings wrote:Online Championship. At 3-3 (leader at 5-1) and 85 points behind in points. Am I:

Nah, just kidding. It's all about points, so keep scoring the most points over these last seven weeks and a playoff spot is possible. It's not easy with two key WRs out, but stay active in FAAB and you never know. Fill in for now and hope Calvin comes back with avengance soon. Anything is possible.
But just in case, did I say that NFBC slow drafts start right after the World Series this year?

Re: Newbie Question
Frankly, I care little about the record. The record is such a crapshoot. I care about points, since they count for 2/3rds of the league total payout as they should. In other formats, people try to draft players with different bye weeks and other silly things to maximize the chance of the record. In this format? I'm gonna draft all the Broncos I can get.

Re: Newbie Question
You have to hang in there and play the waiver wire. In any given week you can put up a 200+ and be within striking distance, even with "scrubs" and waiver wire fodder. Best of luck! Pete

Re: Newbie Question
Thanks everyone. I was just trying to get a read on realistic standing. I am actually having more fun than I expected, so it is all relative.
In any regard:
1) I never quit.
2) I am ALWAYS ready for baseball.

I had a OC team 2 years ago that was 1-6 to start and 4th or 5th in scoring. It finished 2nd place and just 20 points off first. You are always in it!!Edwards Kings wrote:Thanks everyone. Re: Newbie Question
Seven weeks in and after tonights game, I will still be chasing the #1 points team (it would help if tonights game were low scoring, but I wish not ill on anyone...well, not much). I may make up some of the ground and will be in third place for points by Tuesday.
As usual, I have had more tools on my team than I thought, but have have made mistakes on who I left on the bench (kind of like using a flathead to drive an phillips head screw). For example, did anyone really see Ahmad Bradshaw being this useful (I did not use him until week 4 thinking a WR in the Flex spot would be better in a PPR league)?
Ranking my team assuming by the end of this week we have a pretty good feel (injuries aside) what points we need from each position. Averaging the points per game for each of the postions leaves with PPG deficits in QB (Brady mostly and a 5+ PPG deficit), WR1 (Megatron was supposed to lock this spot down, but I am giving up 4.5+ PPG, bad luck), WR2 (Cruz had just woken up when he went down, 3+ PPG, bad luck) and WR3 (Torrey Smith has been better lately and I have "improved" to a 1.5+ PPG deficit, good luck for Steve Smith owners, not so much for me, but did you see that T. Smith touchdown catch in Q4 versus the Pigeons?).
Making up that deficit I have surpluses at RB1 (Murray 5.75+ PPG and how much longer that luck will hold I do not know), RB2 (Ellington 3.75+ PPG), FLEX (first Greg Jennings, now Ahmad "DeMarco" Bradshaw 2.5+ PPG) and the biggest surprise of all, TE (Greg Olsen 3.25+ PPG). With Kicker (Gostkowski) offsetting a poor Defense (SF...can you say streaming?), add it all up and I am about 1.0 PPG to the good. Hopefully I will trend up but will depend on avoiding the injury bug and a cold Tom Brady. I hope to get Calvin Johnson back this week (versus the Pigeons) and Josh Gordon lurks in Week 13.
Got my "bad" weeks (10 and 11) coming up too. Hopefully I have enough depth with the likes of Mike Glennon, Mike Evans (do you really think TB will trade Jackson?), Allen Robinson, Dwayne Allen and Bishop Sankey.
Very different mindset from baseball. Very interesting...in an evil Mr. Spock kind of way...

Re: Newbie Question
Glad to see you're enjoying the football experience Wayne. Yes, it's different but just as fun (if not more). Good luck the rest of the way and keep fighting the good fight.
