I think it's a great read by the Patriots. If anyone thinks the NFL's report isn't full of holes, they're crazy. Good lawyers like the ones hired by Brady and the Patriots are going to poke holes in the NFL's case until it looks like Swiss cheese. The whole thing is a big, fat blemish on the NFL.

I mean, someone took the pressures of the balls before the game and didn't even write down which gauge they used for that? C'mon. And the two gauges were consistently different on all measurements for the Colts and for the Patriots, so this is a pretty big point when comparing the measurements. The NFL treated this like it was Pee Wee football, when the game balls are a pretty big part of the game. They deserve whatever they get from this now for being so lax with the setup.

Do I think Brady asked the equipment guys to always go as low as possible with the balls? Sure. I think every NFL quarterback takes care of their boys to get the footballs the way they want them. That doesn't mean they take them beyond the legal limits, but I'm sure they push it. And I don't doubt that someone screwed up here, but the whole thing looks so bush league when the NFL is the greatest sports league in the world. It's just an amazing and embarrassing situation that the NFL thinks it can cover up with a $5 million, 243-page report written for them. I don't think justice works this way and I wouldn't be surprised one bit if Brady gets this dismissed once all of the lawyers rip through this report.

I'm not rooting for anyone, but the NFL has gotten a bit smug this past year and making up rules on the fly isn't how you run any business. And punishments can't be made up on a whim, either. This one is excessive and most people would agree with that. But here we go. Now that the lawyers are involved and one team is already fighting the league on a ruling, the Battle Royale is upon us. LIke it or not, we're in for a huge fight.
