Week 2 Thoughts & Observations

Here are my thoughts and observations about Week 2 as I wonder why a team with a future Hall of Fame quarterback would strip him of nearly all his top weapons and then continue to ask him to do what he's always done.
Congratulations to the Bills for holding Tom Brady under 500 yards passing on Sunday. Game balls for everyone, Rex.
I'll continue to say that I'm absolutely dumbfounded how people were ignoring Brady in drafts this year. Even after his suspension was overturned he was still falling to the ninth and 10th rounds. You're just gifting people when you do things like that.
Based on how he's looked the first two weeks of the season it's like Brady was seriously pissed about something and is taking it out on every team he faces. Can't imagine what it could be.
Gronk > Kong.
So the Saints strip Drew Brees of nearly all his primary weapons in two years. The one they leave him with (Marques Colston) is a shell of his former self. Are people really surprised the Saints' offense is struggling right now? Really? This one wasn't hard to see coming folks.
That being said, losing at home to a Tampa Bay team that couldn't beat a middle school lineup in Week 1 was pretty pathetic.
Sorry Bucs, don't mean to insult you but you were downright awful in Week 1. It's true and you know it.
So for all those who were burying Jameis Winston after Week 1 can you agree that maybe, just maybe, one game isn't enough evidence to decide a player's fate in the NFL?

I've known Andy Reid for years dating back to my time as a Packers' beat writer and I love the guy but he flat-out cost his team a huge divisional win last Thursday night. Five targets for Zeus? FIVE? Not kneeling down at the end of regulation? C'mon Andy, that's terrible coaching and you know it. No other explanation is possible.
Yeah Peyton Manning, I get it. I won't ever doubt you again. My bad.
Hey Pete Carroll, if you're going to trade for Jimmy Graham you may want to consider using him against a Green Bay team that for years has covered athletic tight ends about as well as Shaq makes free throws.
Just a thought.
At the rate the Packers' injuries are piling up we may soon see Donald Driver and Dorsey Levens back in the Green 'n Gold.
I don't have Randall Cobb on a single team this season and I am legit sad about that. I love that guy.
Ryan Tannehill ADP of 82.64 and is QB10 in the NFFC. Andy Dalton ADP of 130.01 and is QB6. Yup.
I'll continue to say that all Dalton needs to do with all his weapons is just be decent and he can be a Top 10 fantasy QB again. Just decent. He's been more than that so far but decent is the baseline. That team is flat-out loaded with skill-position talent.
Brandon Weeden and Drew Brees had the same number of TD passes on Sunday. Just like everyone expected.
The Emmy's were last night so props to Jon Hamm for (FINALLY) winning a Best Actor award for the brilliant "Mad Men" and props to "Game of Thrones" for winning everything else. Well deserved for both.
Now back to football.
Ameer Abdullah had seven touches on Sunday for the Lions.

And while I love Theo Riddick how in the hell is he playing ahead of Abdullah when you're trying to rally? How is your best running back getting a slightly larger workload then I got on my couch? How can you justify a decision that clearly idiotic?
Unbelievable.
Antonio Brown has earned his status as fantasy's top pick so far this season but don't forget Lev Bell is back in Week 3 and I could see him being fantasy's best from here on out.
That being said, Brown is some kind of ridiculous.
Gotta think Nick Novak is gonna be getting some phone calls this week.
Speaking of kickers, I'll continue to say the new PAT rule is unbelievably dumb. I don't care if they were automatic before. Is it really more enjoyable seeing kickers miss so many of them now? How is that helping the game? Why are you punishing kickers for being good at their jobs?
My apologies to everyone for strongly endorsing Chuck Johnson against a Detroit pass defense that couldn't cover me at wide receiver in Week 1. Sure looks like the Vikings want Ted Bridgewater to be a game manager which kills the values of both Johnson and Mike Wallace. I didn't see that coming and I clearly suck at this so I am sorry.
Then again I also strongly endorsed Steve Smith so maybe things ain't all bad.
Other than putting the ball on the ground WAY too often Adrian Peterson looked a lot like Adrian Peterson on Sunday. That's good news for the Vikings (and Peterson owners) and bad news for everyone else.
It's only Week 2 but as a Justin Forsett owner, I'm concerned about him right now. Not panicking yet but I am concerned.

The Ravens swallowed up Peyton Manning in Week 1 and then got lit up by Derek Carr in Week 2. You can't make this chit up folks.
All John Manziel does is throw TD bombs to Travis Benjamin.

One of my top big money teams has Dez Bryant, Jordy Nelson, Andre Ellington and Tony Romo. All I can do is laugh at this point.

From the "Last Week Is Over" category - the Rams beat Russell Wilson and the Seahawks in Week 1 and then whipped by Kirk Cousins and the Redskins in Week 2. Don't you just love this game?

In two games, DeMarco Murray has 11 more rushing yards than Hugh McElhenny. McElhenny is 86 years old and last played in 1964. So you got that one goin for ya Chip.

In case you missed it due to how bad the Eagles looked on Sunday, the Cowboys had SERIOUS problems on offense without Dez Bryant. This was hardly a surprise. Their running game is highly suspect and their wide receiver talent without Dez is sorely lacking. Sorry Cowboy Nation, but this is all going to catch up to you real soon. No way you can continue to escape it.
If I had to pick the best team in the NFC East for the rest of the season right now I'd pick the 0-2 Giants if (and it's a BIG if) Victor Cruz can return soon and stay healthy. If he can do that I really like the offensive potential with Odell Beckham, Cruz and Shane Vereen for Eli to work with in the passing game.
The Packers struck a chord for NFC dominance with their win over Seattle last night. I'm not even sure who the next-best team is at this point? Atlanta maybe? Arizona perhaps? Man that Cardinals' D looked pretty bad on the road against a putrid Chicago offense on Sunday. So I'm gonna lean Atlanta as long as teams continue to (bafflingly) single cover Julio Jones.
I still can't believe the Giants let James Jones go when everyone on the planet knew the Packers would sign him. I don't blame the Raiders, they have Amari Cooper and Crabtree, both of whom are more talented than Jones. But you're trying to tell me the Giants couldn't use Jones ahead of Preston Parker right now or even Reuben Randle? Horrible job by the Giants' front office and it could be a mistake which propels Green Bay to a deep postseason run.
I love ya Bruce Arians but just make David Johnson the starter until Andre Ellington comes back. You know it's the smart thing to do.
Looks like we have ourselves a RBBC in Washington. Matt Jones has arrived and he isn't gonna go away.
