FSTA Hosts Draft After NFL Draft: Interesting Results

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Mon May 01, 2017 10:04 am

SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio ran a fantasy draft in Philadelphia on Sunday with the hosts who were there to cover the NFL Draft. This was a PPR league, but only a half-point per reception, so the results are slightly different than what we'll see in the NFL. But it's interesting nonetheless. Check it out:

Leonard Fournette went 15th overall. QBs also lasted until the 7th round. A lot of interesting stuff here. enjoy.

That looks a whole lot different than the early drafts that I've seen this year.

Is there any way to get into a high stakes league with this group??? I get some of these folks aren't drafting a lot of fantasy football teams but here a just a few picks that stand out - not in a good way.

Fournette 1.3 - I could have sworn he went to Jacksonville and he doesn't catch the ball...
Mixon 3.4 - At least 2 rounds earlier than I have ever seen him going and closer to 4 rounds early.
Ware 3.7 - That's really high for a guy with strong rookie competition
Jeremy Hill 4.8 - Did they know Mixon was drafted by Cincy?
Adrian Peterson 5.1 - I don't know what to say
Kareem Hunt 6.6 - Did he already beat out Ware???
OJ Howard 6.8 - He was taken 2 full rounds BEFORE Eifert, Ertz, Graham
Brate 8.8 - He actually doubled up on the TB tight ends of which neither will probably have much value due to the other

Ok, I just gotta stop. It all just seems a bit crazy to me.

Okay, try another set of results, this time from Yahoo writers in a half-point PPR format:

Leonard Fournette went 16th here. Jay Ajayi makes the first round.

I'm going to spend the entire preseason railing about Ajayi's ADP so folks might as well get ready. And here's why:

O Line a major issue (Pouncey's still hurt)

He has no role in the passing game (2 receptions or fewer in 10 games)

Yes he had the three 200-yard games but he was held under 60 yards in eight games including four times in his last six games (toss in a 61-yard effort and it looks more like five in the last six).

Only two of his TDs came in the final eight games of the season.

How in the living hell is he being taken in the Top 25 much less in the Top 15? He's WAY too inconsistent for people to be banking on as a RB1 in my opinion. With a lack of receptions to boost his production he is almost entirely TD dependent for fantasy owners. No way do I want someone like that as my RB1 but that's where he's been ranked since the end of last season and where he's being drafted now.

I'm gonna rail against that ADP hard from now until the opening Sunday of the season so get used to it folks. As a Jay Ajayi owner last season I'm going to do everything I can to warn people away from wasting a high pick on this guy. I hope you all will listen. :)

OMG Tom.....we're on the same page :o

I"m with you 100% on Ajayi. I took him once this year in the mid 3rd but that will probably be my only share of Ajayi this year.

It takes us Hoosier a while....you know what I mean. You would think after all of these years I would get at least one call a year right! :D

For me, most of Ajayi's appeal comes from him (probably) being as close to a workhorse back as there is in the NFL. If Miami's pass offense clicks (good chance I think), Ajayi will be good because he will touch the ball 300 times.
