728 points for the latest in a long line of crappy Miami RBs? Good lord. Did Lamar Gordon teach us nothing?

My backup backs are Hearst and Fargas, so I had to take a shot, while knowing that it probably was a waste of "money." I had my full FA budget available, and I wasn't going to get stuck holding it at the waiver deadline. I'm okay at the other positions, so I said what the hell. The "best" part is that he's at New England and Buffalo on my starting RB's bye weeks...UGH!!!

I hope you're not suggesting people should have had the foresight to know Lamar Gordon would get injured and be out for the rest of the year?

Granted, that would be nice...

Dave I think my partner was referring to the fact that the Miami Dolphins are better off dressing a tackling dummy as their RB then anything they are currently starting that is a human.

This is Week 4. Perhaps, as somebody already posted, I should wait so I could spend 400 on a bye week kicker?

I have (arguably), the best WR group in the league. I have Harrison, Holt, Moulds, Branch(inj) and Glenn. As backups for bye week or injury problems I have Karl Williams (14 pts last week) and Bobby Wade (13 pts last week).

My QBs are solid with a QBBC team of Plummer and Green.

Obviously when you draft depth at WR, your RBs suck. My only starter, in the NFL sense, is Wheatley. Would you suggest that I continue to start FBs or backups as my RB2 or take a shot that Henry becomes a legit starter. If Henry gives me 10-12 points a game I will be competitive every week (except week 10 when both are on bye).

So, bottom line, I have nothing to lose. If Henry works out, I could move up in the standings. If he doesn't, I wasn't going to have a chance anyway.

As to the amount, with 4 weeks gone I have no time to take a chance on being outbid. Liquid's team also needed a RB, having a similar situation to mine. It was time to go for it and I did.

I'm just happy to win the guy.

[/QUOTE]You do, of course, understand that this is not a 'fact', right?

'facts' are things that are provable and beyond question.

The 'fact' is that Leonard Henry was worth a bid, the debatable point is how much YOU think he was worth.

JP,

My personal belief is that more injuries will occur. We are only 1/4 of the way through the season and each week, a new flavor of the week is the hottest pickup (i.e. Gordon, Stecker, Carter, etc.). It's naive to think that more RBs, QBs, or WRs won't go down for the count. Add the byes for another six weeks, and injuries will cripple your squad. Based on my calculations, you have less than $100 remaining. You will not recover from an injury to, for example, Wheatley.

Also, the fact that L. Henry is not guaranteed the starting position adds to the argument. With Minor and Morris coming back, all of the trade rumors, and the woeful O-Line, Henry may only be worth a one week start.

I understand your need to acquire a RB based on your current roster and standings. I just don't think Henry's the answer. Can I predict another FA worth a $700 bid? No, but I would like the opportunity to bid $200+ on three or four possible point producers for the rest of the season. If not, you can always block teams from acquiring depth :D .

BTW, I hope Morris gains the starting nod eventually as I picked him up for $67 .

As always, good luck to you JP.

Hojin, the only modifier is the time issue... getting $200 players in week 9 or 12 has less impact than getting a possible starter at this point. I did see Leonard Henry do a reasonable job last week, if he lands the starting gig for the rest of the year he's easily worth this much. Now, I happen to agree with you that he may not be the answer, but in JP's situation he had to pick a spot to go all in and it was either now or (perhaps) never. Understandable gambit.

Dave,

I understand Paul's situation. His options at this point are limited. And having played in the same FBL league for two years, Paul is a very good owner. No doubt about that. However, I just don't see Henry as a bonafide back based on his showing last week. Minor, Morris, or a RB through a trade has the same chance of claiming the starting gig for the Fins. Maybe Henry will prove me wrong.

And I tend to be conservative with my FAAB. I like to wait for those rainy days. In Paul's case, I think he's been through a lengthy storm.

lol - fair enough. I'm in his position in some leagues and your position in others ;)
