Can anyone else relate to this ? It seems when I focus so intently on RESULTS, my team tanks. But if I just take the attitude, Just Enjoy the Games , I do much better. Now I know there is no Logical Correlation, but it really dose seem to work out that way a lot. Anyway, after much Thrill and Agony over the years playing this game, I have come to the conclusion that, no matter what the results, if I get depressed over my teams performance, I really am doing a disservice to myself and this game. You can only control so much . My philosophy for now on will be, " Set it and Forget it " ! , Now I'll Have a beer and just be grateful for the fact that I live in a Country where I can enjoy playing such a great " Game " , with guys all over the this free country. This would not happen in Iraq. Enjoy the games and camaraderie folks and put your self in a win-win situation , no matter what the Results, you may find, thats good for 2 or 3 more wins a year.

I hear you on the depression thing.....too many people believe that their teams are an extension of themselves and take it personally when they don't perform well (as if they were responsible for the team's performance). If you can separate yourself from your team's performance, you'll enjoy the season more and be able to ride the highs and lows much easier.

True D-Day. This is one of the few posts I've read on these boards that makes any sense. Now, I can't say I've always been successful following your advice, especially sunday night/monday morning

It's easy to fall into that trap. One of my primary goals in this hobby is enjoyment. It's tough when guys on your team go down or just underperform.
But one of the best things is figuring that out, regrouping and making another run at it.
We don't play the game, weplay it vicariously through others.
Always cool, even cooler when you win.

THIS IS A GREAT THREAD. YOU ARE RIGHT D-DAY YOU REALLY HAVE TO TAKE THIS GAME WITH A GRAIN OF SALT. SET IT AND FORGET IT AND HOPE FOR THE BEST. HOWEVER THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO HAVE FUN WITH AND KEEP PLAYING UNTIL THE END FOR TWO REASONS. FIRST BECAUSE YOU WANT TO KEEP THE INTEGRITY OF THE LEAGUE YOU ARE IN. SECONDLY FOOTBALL IS VERY LONG OFF SEASON SO IF YOU GIVE UP YOU HAVE NINE MONTHS TO WAIT TO PLAY AGAIN SO JUST PLAY THE WHOLE YEAR AND HAVE FUN.

Heck DDay, if you were to look at my teams, you'd think I'd be ready to jump off of a bridge right now. But, I don't play to win money (if that makes any sense). To me the money is secondary to the enjoyment of building a team and then following games that I might not enjoy as much if I didn't have a player or two going in that game. I just think that FF really allows me to be more than just a Steelers fan. It allows me to watch more games with more interest. Sure, I'll always choose to watch the Steelers first but now, I might actually be interested in a Bills-Jets game if I've got players going in that tilt. In the past, I might have skipped the Bills-Jets and let my wife watch some sappy show instead. I guess for me, FF has allowed me to become a bigger fan of the NFL as a whole. I'll probably get flamed for this, but the money really doesn't matter to me. If I was just interested in winning money, I'd go to the casino. I make it a whole lot faster in there as opposed to FF.

Injuries suck. Fantasy football sucks (right now). Backup runnigbacks suck. Moss sucks. Dewayne Bowe sucks. Fantasy Football God sucks!! Mcnabb really does suck. Im sure I could think of more to bitch about but thats not my personality. I will take advice and enjoy football this weekend. Maybe even root for my beloved Bills instead of watching and sweatin all of my fantasy players. Doctor prescribes 2 beers (maybe twelve)and a quiet Sunday. WILL DO. Please no more injuries (unless its MOSS)
