NFFC Rules Changes For 2019

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed Jun 19, 2019 8:21 am

I should have posted this long ago, but here's a look at the few Rules Changes in the NFFC for 2019:

** In FAAB this year we are allowing players in the Thursday Night Game (and Thanksgiving games) who were on your reserve roster to be cut during Friday's FAAB. This is on the Free Agent link in the Rules:

NEW THIS YEAR: NFFC owners can cut any NFL player on Friday during FAAB who wasn't locked in their starting lineup on Thursday. That means players whose teams played on Thursday but were on an NFFC reserve roster can be cut on Friday during FAAB. This will give NFFC owners a little more roster flexibility in 2019.

** We changed the Defense/Special Teams scoring in all of our contests to give a little more value to this position. The only change was points allowed against that team, as you can see below. Here's the new scoring:

DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS

Shutout = 12 points
Points Allowed 2-7 = 8 points
Points Allowed 8-14 = 4 points
Points Allowed 15-20 = 2 points
Points Allowed 21-24 = 1 point

** The NFFC $150 and $400 Draft Champions Leagues use Team Kicker now instead of individual kickers. Those are the only contests to use that format.

We also are adding one more Rules Change regarding FAAB and this also has been added to the Rules pages. Here it is:

NEW THIS YEAR -- Cutting Players:
1) Owners can pick up a Free Agent in Wednesday's FAAB and if they don't play him on Thursday they can still cut him on Friday, even if his team did play on Thursday.
2) Owners can cut ANY player on Friday that played Thursday and was not started.

Hope this helps.

So in the cutline when dropping a Thursday player are we still going to be locked out of the player that gets picked up on Friday ? I am thinking that will be staying the same since this is best ball format for the regular season when waivers are being used.
2023 NFFC Cutline Champion and 4th place ($90,000) (1720 teams)
2014 RTS Fantasy Championship National Champion ($200,000) (2460 teams)
2012 NFFC Online National Champion and 4th place ($110,000 winner) (1872 teams)
2014 DFWC National Champion (288 teams)

As someone who has advocated the last few years for changing the kicker position, I appreciate the change to team kickers this year for draft champions. Thanks for that

In the past, the NFFC had different rules regarding the Thursday Night Opener between our different contests. All national contests were allowed a free look of that Thursday game, while some private leagues and Satellite leagues had their lineups lock before that game.

This year we are making the Rules as simple as possible: Every league will now allow a free look of the Thursday Night Game. That includes all Satellite Leagues, all national championship leagues, all private leagues, and even private leagues that draft before the Thursday Night Game.

With this change, we are also offering Satellite Leagues on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 6-7. Previously we ended those just before the Thursday Night Game. This will give you two more days of these private league drafts.

Okay, look for this new language now in all of the Contest Rules:

Lineup Submission
All lineups may be submitted on the league web site and must be entered no later than the scheduled kickoff time for the game affected. NEW THIS YEAR: All NFFC contests will allow participants to know the results of the Thursday, Sept. 5th game before locking their Week 1 lineups. Lineups for Week 1 lock at their scheduled start time and all Packers and Bears players will lock at 1 pm ET. Every owner in every NFFC league this year gets a free look at the Thursday Night Game between Green Bay and Chicago.

We are also adding one more Rules Change for 2019 that has been added to all of the Rules pages. This one gives owners a little more flexibility and decision making on Fridays. Here you go:

NEW THIS YEAR -- Cutting Players:
1) Owners can pick up a Free Agent in Wednesday's FAAB and if they don't play him on Thursday they can still cut him on Friday, even if his team did play on Thursday.
2) Owners can cut ANY player on Friday that played Thursday and was not started.
