As I enter the season my fate depends upon Owens and Romo. I really feel that I have all my eggs in this one basket. But, I also think this is an excellent way to break away from the pack should it work out. However, my main concern is that so few fantasy owners who I respect in the NFFC draft a tandum. Was this a big mistake? Does anyone else have a top WR and top QB from the same team? What are your thoughts? Are you comfortable with such an all or nothing approach?

It's not important with NFFC scoring. Total points will get you into the championship game and into the playoff round. Having a tandem will give you more variability from week to week, thus you may lose a week or two against tough D's or bad luck. But if the players reach season projections, you're fine.

Some contests make you win the championship game to make the big dance. That presents a bigger downside to a tandem.

I like the QB/WR hookup, just not at the expense of Romo/Owens or Brady/Moss.

I'd rather get Fitz/ Warner or Braylon/ DAnderson for less. This way, you can still build a solid team around them.
I don't know what the rest of your team looks like, but I feel you had to chase RB depth as well as WR2 & WR3.

Good luck!

Agree with JP here. If Romo and Owens both finish in the top 3 at their position it's no different than taking Brees and Wayne.

Record is only worth $2500 unless accompanied by best total points too!

I'm not a big fan of the hookups because it creates some inconsistency in your head to head matchups. There's a good chance that if Romo has a bad game then TO does as well and it will be hard for your team to recover from both players being off.

Whereas if you have Romo and Reggie Wayne, the odds of both of those players tanking on the same week is smaller. My thoughts are by not having the hookup you will get more consistent scoring. Now in the postseason hookups are great since you need a huge number of points in a very short period. I don't know if I'm right or not but those are my thoughts.

Wayne I agree that high-priced hookups can kill you in the consistency department. (Unless they both end up in the top 3, but that's a big risk to take)

This is why I like getting the cheap QB hookup to pair with the stud WR. If someone went McNabb/Schaub, for instance, and had AJ, then they can play the matchups and possibly benefit from a bye-week explosion.

And, as Wayne mentioned, if they get hot in the playoffs, you are golden. If not, then you put the cheap QB on your bench without much lost.

I go for "upside players" who can hit the home run any week and when all is said and done will have posted solid year-end numbers. If they are on the same team, so be it. It can affect the H2H aspect a tad more than diversifying but when they get hot....it's magic.
