Win $50,000 In The 2023 NFFC Silver Bullet Championship

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Feb 16, 2023 1:40 pm

The NFFC SILVER BULLET returns in 2023 as the industry's only season-long national championship with ONE SHOT per owner and another $50,000 grand prize. We have increased the field to 252 unique owners this year and will close this one off once we have 21 full leagues.

We have added one more league this year after setting a record with 240 teams last year in 20 leagues. This year we are also increasing the entry fee from $1,000 per team to $1,200 per team, allowing us to increase the top league prize from $4,000 to $5,000 and the grand prize from $40,000 to $50,000. We are also paying the Top 10 teams in the Championship Round this year.

Joe Lostrangio of Langhorne, Pennsylvania defeated a field of 240 unique owners in 2022 to win the $35,000 grand prize as we filled all 20 leagues. Joe became our fourth champion in the industry's only single-entry, season-long national championship, joining Mike Santos, Lane McVey and Thomas Libretti.

This year we will again have live events in New York City and Las Vegas, along with Online drafts. Leagues fill on a first-come, first-served basis and once a league of 12 is full we will take it off Registration. We are expecting 21 unique dates and times. We are NOT expanding beyond 21 leagues this year, so secure your spot early if you know you are going to compete in the NFFC Silver Bullet.

For the fourth straight year in this unique format, we are determining the Top 2 Championship Round qualifiers and league winners by total points scored during Weeks 1 through 14. The team that scores the most points in each league will win $5,000 and an entry into the Championship Round. The team that scores the next most points will win $2,400 and earn a spot in the Championship Round. And third place will be determined by the team with the best h2h record in the league IF it wasn't one of the top two teams. If one of the top two scoring teams also had the best h2h record during the regular season, then the third highest points team earns $600 and a spot in the Championship Round. So basically h2h champion only determines the third place qualifier IF it had the best record and wasn't one of the top two scoring teams in the league.

In most cases, the top three highest scoring teams in each NFFC Silver Bullet league will earn the league prize money and advance to the Championship Round. This is a very heavy points format, as you can see. We also have added a Wild Card Qualifier for the Championship Round, which we first implemented in 2020. Every team that finishes in the Top 15% in Total Points after Week 14 gets into the Championship Round even if it finished lower than third in its league. That again helps in our points heavy scoring format.

The grand prize winner will earn $50,000 and we'll pay prize money to the Top 10 teams in the Championship Round. There is no Consolation Round in the NFFC Silver Bullet.

The rules are similar to our other national contests: 12 teams, 20 rounds, $1,000 in-season FAAB, Third Round Reversal, and pay Top 3 in each league. Those Top 3 teams advance to the Championship Round and carry their weekly scoring average into Weeks 15-17 as the regular season will now consist of 14 games and three All-Play weeks. Those All-Play Weeks will be Weeks 1, 2 and 14. The scores from Weeks 15, 16 and 17 are added to the weekly scoring average and the top team will earn the title and the $50,000 grand prize. There will also be no co-managers or prize sharing allowed for this particular contest.

Most national contests for season-long games – including those in the NFFC – are growing each year as more owners take multiple teams for a shot at the bigger and bigger grand prizes. The NFFC is also part of that expansion as the grand prizes in the NFFC Primetime and Rotowire Online Championship are now at $250,000 each. The record grand prizes are possible because more owners are playing in these great contests and more owners are also taking multiple entries.

But there is room in this industry for a return to the old days with one entry per person and good league and overall prizes. We have grown since our debut with this contest in 2019 and we expect things to grow even more in 2023. Thanks for all your support.

Feel free to sign up and choose TBD (To Be Determined) as your venue/date choice. That will allow you to secure your spot in the NFFC Silver Bullet and you can always change to the location, date and time at a later point. To do that, just go to your My Teams page, click on the gear icon to the left of your team link and change TBD to the location, date and time you finally want. Easy as that.

Take your ONE SHOT in the NFFC Silver Bullet and prove to the entire industry that you are the very best owner in this 12-team format. Whoever wins this contest wins $50,000 and bragging rights for eternity because everyone else also had ONLY ONE SHOT to take him/her down. Good luck everyone and enjoy.
