Chris Vaccaro & Michael O'Brien Win 2023 Super Auction Titles

NFFC Hall of Famer Chris Vaccaro of Staten Island, New York won the NFFC New York 12-Team Super Auction League in 2023 and Michael O'Brien of Lakewood, Colorado won the NFFC Las Vegas 12-Team Super Auction League as we hosted two of these leagues this season.

I'll analyze both NFFC 12-Team Super Auction Leagues here, starting with Chris's win in New York City. This one was held at Dave & Busters in Manhattan on Friday, September 1st and he used a strong finish to win the $14,000 league prize. His GST NY AUC2500 team finished second in points in the regular season despite posting a 6-8 head-to-head record, but it vaulted into the lead in Week 16 and ran away with the title when it scored 185.85 points in Week 17.

Michael Edelman finished the regular season with the most points to earn $2,500, finishing 127.15 points ahead of Chris. Mark Srebro finished with the best h2h record (10-4) to earn the other $2,500 regular season prize. GST scored 150.35 points in Week 15, but still trailed Mark by 2.31 points before taking the lead for good in Week 16 with a 153.30 point week. He led Mike by 10.66 points at that point, but wound up winning the title by 53.41 points with a big Week 17.

Edelman won $6,000 for his runner-up finish, while Srebro won another $2,000 for his third place finish. Andy Saxton finished fourth to win $500.

Chris was led in Week 17 by Lamar Jackson's 49.55 points, while Kyren Williams added 30.10 points and Amon-Ra St. Brown chipped in with 22.10 points. Sam LaPorta also added 28.60 points in Week 15 and Saquon Barkley gets a championship ring for adding 19.40 points in Week 16.

Chris went heavy early in the bidding as he got St. Brown for $45, Garret Wilson for $43, Barkley for $41 and Jackson for $21. But it was bargains like David Montgomery for $11, Kyren Williams for $1 and LaPorta for $3 that paved the way to the championship circle. Well done Chris.

Michael O'Brien also used a strong finish in the Championship Round to win the NFFC Las Vegas 12-Team Super Auction League and earn that $14,000 league prize. Michael finished third in points during the regular season, but he roared into the lead in Week 15 of the Championship Round and never looked back.

In fact, his Cheddarheads SA team finished with 683.12 points after three monstrous weeks. The Cheddarheads scored 173.70 points in Week 15, 208.75 points in Week 16 and 154.30 points in Week 17 to win the title by 66.53 points. Matthew Shepard finished second to win $6,000, while Brad Kruse finished third to win $2,000 and Chris Eibl finished fourth to win $500.

Matt won $5,000 during the regular season as his team had the best h2h record (12-2) and most points (2,164.30). He finished 86.90 points ahead of Chris through Week 14 and was 115.10 points ahead of Michael, but the Cheddarheads got hot at the right time and won the title going away.

The Cheddarheads got 51.50 points from Amari Cooper in Week 16 and 20+ points that week from Geno Smith, Christian McCaffrey, Derek Henry and the Dolphins' Kicker. Jayden Reed and James Conner led the way in Week 17 with 26+ points each as Michael got production during those last three weeks from a myriad of players.

Michael built his team around his starting two Running Backs as he paid $48 for Christian McCaffrey and $31 for Derrick Henry. He added Deebo Samuel and Amari Cooper for $20 each and got Rachaad White for $14. Adding in three Packers didn't hurt either for this Packers' fan, right Michael? Well done sir.
