Frank Mammola of Danbury, Connecticut won the NFFC New York 12-Team Super League title and the $14,000 prize with a dominating performance in the Championship Round. Frank's Blackhand NY Super team scored 758.05 points in the Championship Round in what might be the highest Championship Round team total in our 13-history of this great league.
This was Frank's first New York Super League title as he becomes our ninth different winner of the title over the last 13 years. Frank is an NFFC Charter Member, having first joined the NFFC in New York City in 2004 and he now competes throughout the year, including at our live events in New York City and in Las Vegas. He's won many NFFC league titles, but this one might rank right up there as his favorite one to get!!
The New York Super League is always high profile as the draft is aired on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio. The industry follows these draft results and they know many of the high-profile players in this league, which includes no fewer than four NFFC Hall of Famers.
One of those Hall of Famers, Glenn Schroter, has won this title twice and he dominated the regular season, winning $5,000 for best h2h record (12-2) and most points (2,124.80). He was 23.55 points ahead of fellow NFFC Hall of Famer Chris Eibl with Frank in third place with 1,962.85 points. Michael Zucca made the Championship Round with 1,952.30 points.
But Frank's Blackhand team quickly moved into the lead by scoring 227.30 points in Week 15. That was just a preview of things to come as Blackhand scored 198.55 points in Week 16 and 192.0 points in Week 17 to finish with 758.05 points. That was 155.08 points more than Glenn Schroter scored as he finished second to earn another $5,000, while Chris Eibl finished third to win $2,000. Zucca earned $500 as we paid the Top 4 finishers in the New York Super League with no Consolation Bracket.
Frank had all 10 starters score in double digits in Week 15, led by Lamar Jackson with 50.0 points. He also got 30.8 points from James Connor, 26.3 from James Cook and 25.0 from A.J. Brown. Jackson added 28.55 points in Week 16 and 35.1 points in Week 17, while Malik Nabors added 49.1 points in Weeks 16 and 17. To seal the win, Ladd McConkey added 29.4 points in Week 17 and Adam Thielen added 28.0 points. Blackhand got production out of every spot for three straight weeks to run away with the title in the Championship Round. Well done Frank and congrats.
Frank drafted from the 9th spot and started out with A.J. Brown, Malik Nabors and Rashee Rice. Getting James Connor and James Cook in Rounds 5 and 7 solidified the backfield, while Lamar Jackson put up MVP-caliber numbers from his Round 6 spot. Ladd McConkey also proved to be a great pick in Round 8.
Great job everyone and congrats to the prize winners. We hope to do this again on August 29th in New York City and hope to have SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio broadcasting the draft again. We still have some work to do, but that's the goal. See you there.
