Worthington, Fonte & Epping Win 2024 NFFC Super Titles & $14,000

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Tue Jan 07, 2025 10:59 am

We had a total of seven NFFC 12-Team Super leagues in 2024 and three of them produced champions who emerged in the Championship Rounds to win $14,000. These three champions didn't win regular season prize money, but their teams got hot in Weeks 15-17 to take down the league titles and the $14,000 league prizes.

We'll feature all three of those champions in this thread. They included Dan Worthington, who won the the August 26th, 7 pm ET 12-Team Super Online League title; Michael Fonte, who won the Las Vegas Sept. 6th 12-Team Super League; and Jordan Epping, who won the September 6th, 10 pm ET 12-Team Super Online League.

Let's start with Dan Worthington and the first NFFC 12-Team Super Online League of the season. His JD Cube HS team finished 6-8 during the regular season, but it qualified for the Championship Round by placing fourth in points with 1,956.0. John Pierce won $5,000 with best h2h record (11-3) and most points (2,154.3). Joining them in the Championship Round were NFFC Hall of Famers Chad Schroeder and Michael Edelman.

Dan's team got hot right out of the gate in the Championship Round, scoring 206.2 points in Week 15 and 195.0 in Week 16. That gave him a 42 point lead heading into the final week and his JD Cube HS team came through with 199.55 points in Week 17 to win this title going away. His 740.46 points were 85.13 points ahead of Pierce, who won another $6,000 for his runner-up finish. Schroeder finished third to win $2,000. Michael Fonte won the Consolation Round with 572.76 points to earn $500.

Dan's championship team was led by Jared Goff, who scored 56.0 points in Week 15 and then added 60.25 points in Weeks 16 and 17. He also got 36.1 points from Malik Nabors in Week 17, 23.0 points from Philly's defense and 18.6 points from Garrett Wilson. As if he really needed it, he got 26.3 points in the Monday Night finale by Jahmyr Gibbs and 24.5 points from Jameson Williams. Great job Dan on the dominant Championship Round team.

Dan drafted from the 10th spot in this league and he started with Wilson, Gibbs, Nabors, John Jacobs and James Cook. Jared Goff in the 11th round turned out to be his best sleeper pick of the draft. Congrats to Dan and all of our prize winners in this league. And yes, let's do it again next year in about seven or eight 12-Team Super leagues!!!

Re: Worthington, Fonte & Epping Win 2024 NFFC Super Titles & $14,000

Michael Fonte of White Marsh, Maryland teamed up with his buddies Daniel and Stephen Miller to win the NFFC Las Vegas 12-Team Super League with a strong Championship Round run. They say football is a game of inches and these guys can attest to that as they made the Championship Round by just 1.8 points and then won the $14,000 league prize by just 7.3 points.

But a win is a win and after a few other close finishes this one went their way. Their "Filler - Super" team finished just 6-8 during the regular season, but made the Championship Round by finishing fourth in points with 1,958.5. That was just 1.8 points ahead of Chris Schinker for the final spot in the Championship Round.

Chad Schroeder dominated this league during the regular season, winning $5,000 with the best h2h record (13-1) and the most points (2,260.9). He finished 270.7 points ahead of Raymond Arnona, with John Norris making the Championship Round as the third seed.

But it was Michael Fonte's team that jumped right into the lead during the Championship Round, scoring 194.6 points in Week 15. They maintained a 16.53 point lead over Arnona through Week 16 after scoring 153.75 points. Then despite not having a great final week, Michael's team did just enough to win the title, scoring 132.1 points in Week 17. That gave them 620.34 points, 7.3 points more than Chad, who won another $6,000. Arnona, during his first year in the NFFC, finished third to win $2,000. David Webb won the Consolation Round and $500 with 660.24 points.

Michael's championship team was led by Lamar Jackson, who scored 50 points in Week 15 and 63.65 points in Weeks 16 and 17. They also played the Team Defense/Special Teams position to perfection, getting 18 points from Dallas in Week 15, 15 points from Buffalo in Week 16 and 23 points from Philadelphia in Week 17. You don't see that very often. Josh Jacobs, Garrett Wilson and Rico Dowdle also contributed during the Championship Round.

Michael Fonte's team drafted from the seventh spot in this Live Las Vegas league and started with Wilson, Chris Olave, DJ Moore, Jacobs and Jackson. Getting Jerry Jeudy in Round 13 also was a big help down the stretch. Congrats to Michael, Daniel and Stephen for winning this league title and congrats to all of our prize winners. Let's do it again at Park MGM in 2025 on Friday, September 5th. See you all there.

Here's a look at the final standings:

Like the two previous owners mentioned above, Jordan Epping of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin also won $14,000 and his NFFC 12-Team Super League title with a wild Championship Round finish. Jordan competed in the last NFFC 12-Team Super Online League of the season on Friday, September 6th at 10 pm ET and he moved from fourth place to first place with a strong finish.

Jordan's "Jordy's Super" team finished 6-8 in the regular season, but was fourth in points with 1,929.25. He made the Championship Round by 20.4 points, but was 324.75 points behind Chad Schroeder, who dominated this league. Chad won $5,000 as his Cocktails & Dreams team won the best h2h record (11-3) and easily had most points (2,254.0). Nobody else had even 2,000 points, but joining Chad and Jordan in the Championship Round were Steve DeAngelo and Michael Edelman.

Chad had a 64.65 point lead after Week 15 as his team scored 188.85 points. Jordy's Super was second after scoring 147.4 points in Week 15 and that team was still in second place despite scoring 175.6 points in Week 16. But he jumped into first place with a 177.75 point Week 17 and edged Chad by 12.2 points to win the title. Jordy's Super finished with 638.55 to win $14,000, while Chad added another $6,000 with his runner-up finish. Edelman finished third to win $2,000, while Adam Koplan won the Consolation Round and $500 with 612.76 points.

Jordan's championship team was led in Week 17 by Malik Nabors with 36.1 points. He also got solid contributions from Ladd McConkey (29.4), Brian Thomas (23.9), Jalen McMillan (23.0) and Kyler Murray (21.25). Brock Bowers was also a key to this team getting to the Championship Round.

Jordan drafted from the third spot in this final NFFC 12-Team Super League and he won the title despite getting minimal results from Tyreek Hill. He took Nabors second and then got little production from Brandon Aiyuk, his third pick. Getting Thomas and McConkey in Rounds 7 and 8 was huge and Bowers in Round 9 was the big steal of the draft. Great job Jordan on piecing this championship team together.

Congrats to all of our prize winners and let's do this again next year. See you in the Online draft room.

Here's the final standings:
