Today I'm happy to report that the National Fantasy Football Championship will once again host live events in New York City this year. It marks the 22nd straight year that the NFFC has hosted live events in New York.
We are the only high-stakes contest to host live events in New York City and we have been everywhere, from the Javits Center to the New York Sheraton to the New York Hilton to the Stewart Hotel to Dave & Busters to the Westin last year. I'm sure I missed a few other places, but we've done everything we can to stay in New York City. And even with costs rising each year to make it tough to return, we have returned.
But the situation last year with Dave & Busters pulling out the rug from underneath us a week before our live events and then the Westin filling in with higher-than-expected prices, we still tried to stay committed to the East Coast. We wanted to return, but finding a good venue was going to be tough.
So this year we are doing something special that will allow us to stay in New York City and make that weekend feel like the home leagues that New York City has become. We have worked out a deal with Greenwich Street Tavern to rent out their facility for the entire day and to host six or more NFFC live events throughout the entire day on Friday, August 29th.
Greenwich Street Tavern has been our hosting grounds for the Thursday Night Party each year in New York City and even after the Super League on Friday night. It's owned by NFFC Hall of Famer Chris Vaccaro and he is willing to make this work to keep the NFFC in the City for another year. It's going to be a busy schedule on that day, but there's enough room to even host multiple drafts at once if needed and have fantastic buffet meals for everyone with an open bar for the participants while they're drafting. And if you want to hang out and watch some drafts as well, there's enough room for that.
The City link is located here: https://nfc.shgn.com/venue/144
Greenwich Street Tavern is located at: 399 Greenwich St, New York, NY 10013. There is a hotel nearby that is affordable and we'll post that information soon.
It's going to be a busy schedule, but we'll try to fill all of these leagues and have some fun. Here's the tentative schedule:
New York NFFC
Greenwich Street Tavern
Friday, August 29th
10 am ET - NFFC 12-Team Auction League
1 pm ET - NFFC $2500 Auction League
4 pm ET - NFFC Primetime League
4 pm ET - $350 Rotowire Online Championship Live
6 pm ET - NFFC Primetime League
6 pm ET - $350 Rotowire Online Championship Live
8 pm ET - New York 12-Team Super League
10 pm ET - NFFC Primetime League
10 pm ET - NFFC Silver Bullet League
We have added a couple of NFFC $350 Rotowire Online Championship Live leagues to try and bring in new players to New York City. We filled one of those leagues last year and did recruit some new players. Again, we have the space to host two leagues at once, so we are offering that a few times, including a 10 pm ET Silver Bullet League that likely will be hooked up with Online drafters.
The Thursday Night Party is on at GST, so secure a hotel nearby, come for some fun on Thursday night, stay for most of the day on Friday and you'll be able to draft and watch drafts/auctions all day long. The camaraderie, food, drinks and drafts will be off the charts!!!
And if this works out in 2025, we'll call GST our home in 2026 as well. Thanks for all the support with this change and let's keep New York City on the NFFC schedule this year and every year going forward. Thanks and enjoy.
