Draft Order For NFFC Magazine II League

Okay, the lineup is set for the NFFC Magazine II League, which will be held on Wednesday, June 27th at 7 p.m. EST on MockDraftCentral.com. This is an 18-round, 3RR draft that will be played out on the NFFC site. The first place champion will receive a $500 NFFC Satellite League entry in 2008. Good luck everyone.

Here is the draft order after 3RR was run:

Here was the random draft order before KDS:

1. Frank Ferreira
2. SNAKE
3. Greg Morgan
4. Rich Dunn
5. Randy Barbour
6. Perry Van Hook
7. Lonny Graves
8. Mike Konemann
9. Kevin Schiller
10. Keith Larson
11. Mark Moyer
12. Patrick Welsh
13. Shane Hillyard
14. Jeff Clampitt

As you can see, eight owners moved up in the draft, one stayed the same and five moved down. 10 of the 14 owners got their Top 4 preference. Awesome. More on that later.

Here's the fun facts:

** Two owners got their first choice and three other owners got their second preference.

** 10 of the 14 owners got their Top 14 preference. 13 of the 14 owners got their preference in the Top 7, with the lone exception getting his 11th preference.

** The average draft preference was 4.21. In a random draft, it would be 7.0, meaning each owner moved up three spots than where they would have been in a random draft.

I will probably start a separate thread on this later, but this draft is a perfect example of how well KDS/3RR can work. Each owner in this draft seemed to get a more preferred draft spot than they would have had in the random draft and because of 3RR ALL of the spots were desired. While some folks may not like the middle picks, there are some folks who used their KDS preferences to land in the middle. While some folks don't like the end of the draft, others prefer to draft from there. And while it seems everyone likes the top three spots, not everyone wants to draft up there with 3RR.

I understand that KDS/3RR is different and it will take some time for our members to get used to it, but in the end I feel GREAT because I know my customers are happier with the final result, which is their draft spots. Nothing will ever be perfect, but there is now NO QUESTION in my mind that this setup makes the contest fairer and better for the fantasy players. Now it's our job to make sure ALL of our participants understand it and that they get their KDS preferences set before we run the leagues.

Again, no need to respond here on this thought as I'm going to start a separate thread on this soon. But as the person who runs the KDS preferences after we've randomly selected the leagues, I must say I am happy to see so many folks actually getting spots they'd prefer. And when you're spending $1,300 or more for a team, isn't that what you'd like to get for your money??

Thanks Greg. My team name for this league will be: Lone Exception :D

Seriously though...I still moved up 3 preferred spots which gives me more control than I had before. Looks like KDS is doing it's job! ;)

I do not want the 1.01 pick this year as I could see LT not finishing #1. Therefore, I'll take #2 or later and get better value the next 2 rounds.

Edit to add, I was not in this KDS, but that is my opionion nonetheless.

My guess would be:....it's a free league and maybe they want to experiment to prepare for the main just in case they get those slots. Other than that...I'm also lost on the rationale Cap'n.

Edit to add, I was not in this KDS, but that is my opionion nonetheless. #1 pick has to be money in the bank. Nobody more consistant at the top than LT. Maybe someone will supplant him as #1 RB but no way he drops from top 3.....and that's the 1st round guarantee everyone wants IMO.
