Anyone else drafting in Chicago interested in "whooping it up" a bit after the draft on Saturday? Get some good food, a little drinking, gambling, etc. Any other suggestions?

So far, Gerard and Scarecrow are up for it, and it would be great to get a lot more involved.

Anyone from the area who knows some great places to eat? Doing a little research, many regard Lou Malnati's and Giordano's as the two best places to get Chicago style pizza, any locals agree? Any other "unique" restaurants in the area us tourists may want to hit?

Along the same lines, do we have a head count for hold'em after the auction on Friday night, and a location. My hotel is a few miles from the Marriot, and it woud be best if we could play there, so if anyone has any suggestions... lets hear em!

No Big Apple this year? Something tells me that you're hoofing it out to Chitown for a taste of that Correll Buckhalter competition!

;)

;) Is this Matt from Honolulu Hammers (NY6)? What is up man? How did you end up doing in the Fantasy Jungle?

As far as going to Chicago over NYC, it was actually an easy choice. First, I have never been to Chicago and have always wanted to go. Second, a day of parking in NYC costs $50+, while a decent hotel is about $175/night. Chicago is a much cheaper option for me, and I don't have to worry about my car getting taken on a scene from "Ferris Bueller".

It honestly had nothing to do with the "Correll Buckhalter/Marcel Shipp incident" in Chi-town last year. I think that happened in the same league (same owner?), and there were plenty of fish in NY last year, as some were in NY6.

The great thing about these "high stakes" leagues is that they attract the fish, and they in turn attract the sharks (Hammerheads if you prefer!) :D

Best of luck in NYC this year, and also in the Fantasy Jungle! :D

P.S. If you are signed up for the Jungle, what day(s) are you drafting?

yeah it's me... led my Jungle league for the first 7 weeks, but then finished out of the money (since when does Randy Moss gets injured?)

drafting NFFC on the 3rd and WCOFF on the 10th, so i'll most likely do the JUNGLE draft on the 7th (that's a wednesday i think)... you doing Jungle again?

chicago sounds cool... i've got an ex-girlfriend who works at a nice place out there (good steaks), so i'll see if i can find her number and the name of the restaurant

good luck this year

In the Jungle after 11 (or is it 12 weeks?) I had the best record in my league by about 10 games, and almost 100 points better. Of course, i had a lousy playoff week, and only won $500 instead of $1,200. I did end up finishing 6th overall, so I got a little extra cash (so that was good!)

As far as the Jungle, I am drafting 2 teams. One is definitely on August 27th, and the other was supposed to be on September 7th, but I may have to do it on Labor Day night, as I noew have another commitment.

Good Luck this year!

hey - I've scoured the forum history looking for reference. Can one of you guys tell me what the 'incident' was? Did someone in CHI take Buckhalter/Shipp in last years draft?

It's like playing poker when someone calls on garbage or bets big on a flush draw and luckily wins. Never fails someone grumbles about what they did wrong, explains exactly why they shouldn't have done it when in fact they should shut up and let them do it again!

Now, just shut up and encourage them to try again as bad luck happens to all of us ;)

Thank you,

Dyv

Dyv, like you need help? Anyway, I looked at your board afterwards last year and you got plenty of help. Did you lie to the other teams in your league as to what was in that violin case you had on the table?

[/QUOTE]Dyv, you've always been so cordial....It's not like you to yell like that...Do you have a new partner this year that changed your mindset? ;) :D
