fantasy football websites

I'm sure that all of us subscribe to one or more fantasy football websites but I think I"m becoming more cynical all of the time with these guys. I think many of them should pay us to read their junk that they write. Here's how you do it.

1. Write something positive about every player.

2. Write what could be a potential problem about every player

3. Take credit for making the call whichever way it goes.

Next year I'm just going to keep a couple of sites and ditch the useless stuff. I do like BFD and PFF but most of the sites don't even keep up with the current news. They will release articles today with dated material that is ancient history. I love the "rankings" which consist of last years stats given back to you. Maybe some of these guys are spending a lot more time on XM than studying fantasy football but I think I"m done paying money for information that proclaims every guy to have upside. Heck, I could bat 1000 if I did it that way too.

Yeah half of how I draft is based upon sheer gut feeling on how I feel about a player and his talent. Expert analisys is usually vague to cover themselves. Put your balls out there. You either dominate or you dont dominate. Usually I use fanatsy index they seem to back up their predictions with solid facts. But I dont go souly by their rankings. I think its best to blend both together and construct the team you like best.

Maybe I'm in the minority... but I have never subscribed to a fantasy web site and I never will...... When I win High Stakes leagues, its because of the hard work I do and not based on any website.

I find the web sites handy for injury updates. Not much else. Once in a blue moon they give some insite about a player not on my radar that maybe should be.

I find the websites (certain ones) useful for one thing, and one thing only, generation of certain peripherals that I cannot generate myself. For instance, it isn't easy for me to know how many targets the tight end gets in Tampa Bay. I obviously can look up the stats Kellen Winslow generated but how many targets he has isn't easy to find.

I totally agree that a ton of these sites have guys who just repeat what they read on some other site. Many, if not most of these guys have less fantasy football knowledge than most of us. They just have the access and opportunity to play the roll of an "expert" because they have an outlet.

The only guys I deem as legit "expert" on these sites are the guys who actually compete in high stakes events, under their own name, and have consistent success (ie, BDF).

I do print the most readable cheat sheets and then mark them all up for my own personal needs based on my own personal scouting leading into a draft. The only reason I do that is because I am not overly computer savvy and don't feel comfortable drafting from a laptop using some draft software nor do I have the time to type up my own cheat sheets. I just generate the one (changes every year) that I think is most readable and make it with my own projections.

The only site that I really use for any fantasy related information is RotoWorld. It's a daily staple of my interwebz browsing. They are usually well up to date.

FBG is OK. Football Outsiders is very good. KUBIAK is a good informational tool, but a poor fantasy draft tool.

Glenn,

How much B.S have you thrown out over the years in regards to players to create a "smokescreen"? Answer.......A LOT.

The point is you don't want people knowing your sleepers, etc. and neither do the rest of us who have had success at this. Nobody would want to expose who they REALLY liked and where they would pick him.

That being said, I would love for some of these sites to acknowledge the 14 team drafts. I get so tired of hearing....."well you can get Mike Wallace in the 3rd or maybe 4th round"......of what???.....an 8 teamer??

I personally like being on this side of the game.......it's more profitable. ;)
