Peter Berall had an incredible finish to win all $80,000 in the debut NFFC Diamond League. Peter's Philby's won $20,000 during the regular season for best h2h record and most total points and Philby's then had an incredible Week 16 to vault into first place to win the remaining $60,000 grand prize. It was an incredible finish in what turned out to be an incredible league. CONGRATS PETER!!

Philby's scored 190.50 points in Week 16 to overcome Butkus Dicks and Purple Helmets for the Championship Round scoring title. He had two bad weeks, but his Week 16 total and his weekly scoring advantage from the regular season gave him a 12.34 point advantage over Kevin Schiller for the $60,000 prize. Kevin wins $25,000 and Rob Silver wins $8,000 for third place. Here's the final standings:

Philbys 152.9769 95.9000 83.7000 190.5000 523.0769
Purple Helmets 134.0885 90.3000 151.0500 135.3000 510.7385
Butkus Dicks 133.6654 156.8500 114.8000 85.7000 491.0154
Harry's Devilcats 143.6346 85.5500 134.0000 117.7000 480.8846

Pat Sorge wins $2,000 for having the highest point total in the Consolation Round. Ironically, three teams finished with higher point totals in the Consolation Round than Peter did in the Championship Round. But the key is getting into the Championship Round and those teams weren't able to accomplish that. Here are the final point totals from the Consolation Round:

Ry's Guys 125.9654 176.7000 167.9000 134.0500 604.6154
King of Queens 122.7731 175.9500 142.4500 95.2000 536.3731
Cocktails and Dreams 127.5538 100.3500 152.7500 152.1500 532.8038
Air Lar 122.6115 118.2500 112.9500 136.2500 490.0615
3intboyBFD 122.7423 113.1000 126.0500 119.8500 481.7423
Beat Roger 129.4231 94.3500 126.2500 123.4000 473.4231
Team Ferrari 123.4500 166.5500 87.2500 91.8500 469.1000
FuPayMe 119.9885 101.0500 115.9500 109.9000 446.8885

I know we're a long ways off from discussing 2011, but my initial thoughts are that we'd go for a 14-team Diamond League in 2011 and see if we can fill that before going back to the 12-team format. Just a thought to consider and to discuss for those who were involved. It would obviously add to the prize pool and could add to more teams in the Championship Round (or not, depending on the debate). But I think there is interest in this format and I'd like to consider the 14-team format for 2011. Let me know your thoughts.

Obviously we'd run a 12 or 14-team format for even higher stakes if demand was there. All I know is that this was a very good group of owners and the Draft Day was as much fun as it gets. Let's do it again in 2011.

Congrats Peter, a well deserved championship!

As for expanding, I like the 12 team format better, but would still play in the 14 teamer.

Will the payout % be the same?

Will the play-offs still be points based? If they go to a Head2Head, like the Ultimate, count me out.

I think the Ultimate has a group that likes that h2h format and we'll keep it there, but total points for the Diamond League adds a different dimension and probably the right one for this price level.

I'll stay at 12 teams if that's what everyone wants. Either way (or both!!) is fine by me. ;)

Count me in for next year. I'm okay with either 12 or 14. Congrats to Philby's.

First and foremost, congrats to Peter for dominating the regular season and playoffs when all was said and done.

In regards to 2011, the component I would most want to keep is the qualification for the playoffs being based more on total points versus H2H (along with the tabulation of the playoffs as well). I would probably simply support the majority on all of the other decision points.

Congrats Peter. What a finish.

I agree with Kevin on the other stuff. I would possibly prefer only four making it, even if it is 14 teams though. Either way, I am sure I will be back next year, whatever the format is.

Congrats to Peter on a dominating season. That week 16 was unbelievable -- outscored weeks 14 and 15 COMBINED.

As for next year, I'm game for either a 12- or 14-team format. Please keep it at 4 playoff teams.

Congrats Peter! You blew us all out of the water very early on. You are a most deserving champ! I agree with the others as far as 4 playoff teams. I personally like the 12 team but would probably still do it if it was 14 teams. Great contest run first class as usual! Thanks Greg and Tom!

Oh yeah, one suggestion...I think the consolation prize should have been bigger :D :D :D
