Prize Structure For NFFC Satellite Leagues

The debut NFFC Satellite Leagues will take place the week of August 22-25, with drafts scheduled each night of that week. I'll have a more definitive time schedule later this week after I meet with STATS, but here is the tentative pay structure. That's a starting spot and I look forward to feedback from everyone.
We'll have four levels of online games, each paying just individual league prizes. They will include $100 entry fees, $250 entry fees, $500 entry fees and $1,000 entry fees. All will be 14-team leagues using the exact same NFFC scoring format. My initial thought is to run all of the leagues for 16 weeks and pay out the top three teams in total points rather than go with h2h records and playoffs. Any feedback you can give me on that will be appreciated.
I am paying back anywhere from 83% to 89% of total entry fees in prizes. I still have expenses in running the leagues and licensing, but I feel this is a fair payback for everyone and it allows NFFC members to have a solid pre-draft opportunity and also gives some members who can't make this year's main event a chance to still play in the NFFC. I hope this is the start of an extension of the NFFC that continues for years and years.
Here's the proposed levels and payouts:
$100 Entry Fee League
1st: Free Entry In 2006 NFFC
89% payback, rewarding total points leader through 16 weeks of action
$250 Entry Fee League
1st: $1,900
2nd: $750
3rd: $250
$500 Entry Fee League
1st: $4,000
2nd: $1,400
3rd: $500
$1,000 Entry Fee League
1st: $8,000
2nd: $3,000
3rd: $1,000
I don't have a schedule in place yet, but something like this is possible:
Monday, August 22nd:
7 p.m. EST: $100 league
7 p.m. EST: $250 league
Tuesday, August 23rd:
7 p.m. EST: $100 league
7 p.m. EST: $500 league
8 p.m. EST: $250 league
Wednesday, August 24th:
7 p.m. EST: $1,000 league
8 p.m. EST: $100 league
8 p.m. EST: $500 league
Thursday, August 25th:
7 p.m. EST: $250 league
7 p.m. EST: $500 league
8 p.m. EST: $100 league
Again, this is all just tentative, but I'd be willing to fill 1-2 of each league and be done with it. We'll create a registration page soon and officially announce all of this via e-mail and on the boards soon.
Comments on times, leagues, and payouts? I'm all ears.

Greg,
Nice job with the payouts. The % payouts in the cash games go up as the stakes go up, as it should be.
Just one tweak as I study the schedule. I would make 1st in the $250 League $1950 and lower 2nd to $700.
The 22nd I'm in Seattle visiting my daughter and my one and only grandchild. I bought tickets for all of us to the Seahawks/Cowboys game that night. Tuesday I'll fly home. So who wants a piece of me in a $100 League on Wednesday or Thursday?

Greg -
Please keep the exact same H2H and playoff format as the NFBC !!!
#1 Since satellites are a feeder into the NFBC, they should be the EXACT format, including h2h and playoff ... you're trying to create an appetite for the main event with a different, less interesting product?
#2 I like the idea of satellites because its a preview of how the main event drafts could go; if you change the format they lose their relevance.
#3 If you must change the format, at least make it entertaining, such as an all-play h2h. Point-only lges are dull.

Yeah, the total points isn't a final decision, just an option. Again, I worry about teams dominating during the regular season and then losing out on the big money with a bad Week 15 or Week 16. The obvious solution is paying the h2h champion and the total points champion their entry fee back, but then it makes the first place prize look smaller. But anything is possible. You know I like h2h, so let's hear more feedback on that.
I'm more concerned with making sure the payouts are fair now and then we'll figure this out. As you suggested Kevin, maybe we do an all-play h2h format in one of these as well. Let's round up the participants and I'll work with STATS to format each league as they can be different.
Oh, oh, do we even create a league where you use FAAB to buy your draft spots? Calling Gordon on this one. Pick up the phone!

For the 1 winner leagues:
Thirteen week regular season to pick 4 teams for finals:
1 - Best h2h (pts tiebreaker)
2 - Next best points
3 - Next best points
4 - Next best h2h (pts tiebreaker)
Three week total point playoff with 1 week carryover, just like the big boys.
Edit to add:
This could also work for all the Satellites, but the race would be for 1, 2 and 3 in the cash leagues. Only difference would be you might consider adding another playoff team (5 total) to fight for 3 spots.
If this turns out to be well liked by the participants, it could be a model for all the single leagues, like Auction and DC for implementation in 2006.

At least for the $100 leagues, you can't go wrong with a total points champion, it may be less exiting but are you not trying get the "best" team to win?
Luck plays too much a factor in H2H sometimes and you won't necessarily be recruiting the better team with a league entry into the 2006 NFFC. The goal of the satellite is to expand upon the Main Event no?

That makes more sense than total points for all of the leagues. Good thinking. That sticks with the NFFC format and still rewards the regular season teams. We can carry in weekly averages from the regular season into the playoffs as well.
Well done.

Someone has requested a Draft Champions Satellite League and possibly an NFFC Auction League. I'll look into both, but each is possible at $100 entry fee levels.
