It may not be Wharton or Kellogg but it IS top-20.
MBA Program
U.S News and World Report 2005
19th overall, 5th among public universities
6th Supply Chain Management and Logistics
14th Accounting
17th Production and Operations
22nd Finance
23rd Marketing
It’s not a “claim” if you actually do something:

For the record Gordo’s position on playing weak competition is clearly the optimal approach. Sure we all want to play against the best, but at the end of the day we all really want the best chance we can have at the $100K. A league with a higher concentration of “dead money” players makes the odds for those that really know what they are doing substantially higher.
The top teams will likely come from the weaker leagues. The best way to gauge which leagues are stronger top to bottom is to post total league points (like the NFBC.)

NNoy,
I would expect more from a guy that went to a top 20 b-school. Total league points don't mean a lot if they are being scored by the strong teams. You also need the standard deviation of team points.

League vs League
LEAGUE PTS
New York 4 15536
Chicago 2 15258
Las Vegas 2 15149
New York 3 15002
New York 2 14892
Chicago 1 14826
Las Vegas 1 14817
Las Vegas 4 14800
New York 1 14457
New York 5 14200
Las Vegas 5 14149
Las Vegas 3 14106
Chicago 3 13911
Based on this information, it appears that average 'league strength' ranking by city:
NYC (#1, #4, #5, #9, #10) = avg. 5.8
Chicago (#2, #6, #13) = avg. 7
Las Vegas (#3, #7, #8, #11, #12) = avg. 8.2
It appears to me the easiest competition (based on total points scored per league) was in Vegas.
Dyv Dyv - I ran an analysis of the NFBC and instead you're going back to those home page numbers which are about as meaningful as totalling up each league's phone number? STATS, Inc and Greg should know this so why keep those phony numbers up on the home page? Don't know ... first time all year Greg hasn't responded.
But to summarize, statistics showed very DECISIVELY that Vegas was toughest around mid-season for baseball, with NY and Chicago lagging far behind about equally.
Gekko is catching on, I guess, or maybe just trying to convince all the Vegas guys to leave town to improve his odds.

By the way Gekko, how did you fair this week. I assume all of the bitter grapes is due to your poor performance. I suppose the other good owners in you Vegas league forced you to take Gonzales in the second round.
