Guaranteed $100,000 Grand Prize!

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Aug 26, 2004 2:40 am

Since I announced on Sunday that the NFFC would unfortunately fall short of its goal of 602 teams and would have to reduce the overall prize structure (leaving the league prizes intact), we have had a big surge in NFFC signups, securing 26 new teams since Monday morning. This final surge has convinced us that it's time to step up to the plate and GUARANTEE a $100,000 grand prize to the overall champion. Everyone in the NFFC can now feel secure knowing that the NFFC is a definite go for Draft Day and the lowest the grand prize will be is $100,000.

We will fill up our 14th full league soon and there appears to be enough interest for a 15th league, giving us a total of 210 participants among the three cities. We will push for a 16th league if there's interest and keep going, but right now we're more than willing to take the risk with the number of teams we have four days before the deadline. Bring it on!!!

Here's the proposed prize structure as we sit here today:

LEAGUE PRIZES
First Place: $5,000 (stays the same)
Second Place: $1,500(stays the same)
Third Place: $500 (stays the same)

OVERALL PRIZES
Overall Grand Champion: $100,000 (was $200,000 at 602 teams)
Second Place Overall: $15,000 (was $20,000)
Third Place Overall: $7,500 (was $10,000)
Fourth Place Overall: $2,500 (was $5,000)
Fifth Place Overall: free entry in 2005 NFFC (was $2,500)
Sixth Place Overall: free entry in 2005 NFFC (was $1,500)
Seventh Place Overall: free entry in 2005 NFFC (was $1,250)
Eighth Place Overall: free entry in 2005 NFFC (was $1,250)

CONSOLATION ROUND
Consolation Champion: $2,500 (stays the same)
Consolation Round Runnerup: $1,500 (stays the same)
Consolation Round Third Place: free entry in 2005 NFFC (was $1,000)
Consolation Round Fourth Place: free entry in 2005 NFFC (was $1,000)

DRAFT MASTERS AND AUCTION LEAGUES
All prizes remain the same.

Even though we are 400 teams below our goal (ouch!), we are reducing the guaranteed prize pool by just $118,500 in actual payouts and adding six free entrys in 2005 ($7,500 value). I'd still like to improve the third through eighth place overall prizes if we get more leagues, but at this point I think this is a very fair prize structure as second place overall fell just $5,000.

We are happy to offer this prize structure to all of you who have stayed with us through this tough signup period and realize that your odds of winning the grand prize have just improved. If we finish at 15 or 16 full leagues, each team that finishes first or second in their league will already have made money and will then have a 1:30 or 1:32 shot of winning $100,000. Hell, I guess you could root for us to finish with just 14 leagues so that your pot odds are 1:28 in the playoffs, but I'll be damned if I will let that happen!!! :D We'll fill this final league yet, I'm convinced of that.

All I can say is: Thanks for supporting us and may the best person win! I GUARANTEE these will be the best odds you'll ever get in the NFFC as next year will be bigger and better. Take your best shot now!

And for you fence sitters that still want to get in the NFFC, Tom and I will be here over the next four days to take your calls and signups. We're at 715-445-4612 (ext. 284# for Greg, ext. 653# for Tom). Get it now and enjoy one of the best payout percentages in fantasy football history (ouch for us!).

Again, thanks to all of you who stuck with us and this is your reward. On Monday night we'll announce leagues and draft positions, so be ready. Draft Day is just nine days away!

Greg change the web site to show 100,000. It will avoid trouble later.

Suggestion: How about in the overall prizes giving the 5th & 6th place finishers free entry into the 2005 NFFC main event, draftmasters and auction and the 7th & 8th place finishers free entry into the main event and the choice of either the draftmasters or auction function since no money is actually coming out of the company's pocket and they should be rewarded a little higher than the consolation round 3rd and 4th place finishers...

What happens if after I win the Gekko tournament I win a free entry to next year's competition?
Hello. My name is Lee Scoresby. I come from Texas, like flying hot-air balloons, being eaten by talking polar bears and fantasy football.

Is my "weekend warrior" prep better than your prep?
