Live Chat With Tom & Greg: Friday at 11 AM EST

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Aug 11, 2011 10:11 am

Okay, Tom and I are going to host these a couple times per week even if we're the only two asking the questions. We are alone in this Iola Man Cave, so we're used to small talk!! :D But there are five pre-season games tonight, so we're hosting a Live Chat tomorrow morning. Plus there's enough industry news to fill a novel and we want your questions there, too. Post some questions tonight and we'll dive in as we can and have some fun. Let's do it again tomorrow.

Join us here tomorrow for a live chat. You might like the conversation after we make some announcements tonight. It's time to make some changes with our online contests and push the envelope. Time to do that right now. Stay tuned.

Okay, Live Chat again tomorrow or tonight or in a few minutes!!! :D Bring on the questions and let's all watch some football tonight!!! THE GAME OF FOOTBALL IS BACK!!

Nope. LOVE Manningham this year as a breakout WR3 with WR2 upside. I think Thomas is a rock-solid WR3 who you can get as your WR4. Like both of them more than the rooks.

2) if Lee Evans signs wih the Ravens, would you then put Joe Flacco up in the same "potential" breakout candidate to-be-elite-class of "other" unnamed QB's?...

Had him there the past two seasons and he's been a disappointment. He's a prove it to be my guy now.

3) Jeremy Maclin - stay away or let's play?...

Right now stay away unless the value is really good.

4) please persuade me as to why I wouldn't want to set my KDS from 1-5 or 5-1 in both, the 12 and 14 team formats?...

I can't since I would prefer to get a stud RB if possible. That's always my top preference.

5) MJD - I feel that he is this year's BIGGEST wildcard of the draft as if he's really healthy (and I personally think that he is and will remain so as he's a gamer and is out to prove his doubters wrong after playing hurt most of last season) he can be the overall #1 RB this season but if not, well then, doom and gloom for his owners...

Agreed. There is no greater risk/reward pick in the first round of drafts right now than MJD.

6) I think that there is a rather HUGE dropoff after not only the top 5 QB's this year but believe it or not, and contrary to popular opinion/belief, the top 5 TE's as well...conversely, I also feel that there is mucho "parity" to be had at the RB/WR position this season as well...please convince me as to why I wouldn't want to be head and shoulders above the competition by grabbing one of the top 5 elite at positions earlier than I typically would in past years and draft my RB/WR in the latter rounds?...

...thanks much... I can't convince you of something you don't agree with. My feeling is there's a drop-off after the Top 6 QBs to Romo and then a drop-off to Schaub and then one to Ryan and Roethlisberger and then another to Eli and then another. And so on and so on. I think there's a pretty big drop-off at WR after the Top 10 are gone. I think the RB and TE positions are loaded this year and waiting on both while addressing other positions is a very appealing strategy.

Tom, who the heck is Stevan Ridley? That kid looked pretty damn good last night in LOTS of action. I see his NFFC ADP is 299 and he's been drafted in only 14 of the 20 leagues so far. Tell me more about him and what you think he might do for the Patriots this year?

Unfortunately, I think there are too many cooks in the kitchen in the Patriots' backfield. BJGE isn't going anywhere this season. Woodhead is a very good third-down RB and the Patriots are still high on Shane Vereen, another rookie. Early reports from Patriot beat writers suggest the team will use all of their RBs during games because all of them do certain things well. Great news for them. Bad news for fantasy owners.

Did we learn anything from the QB play last night? I know it's early, but didn't Kevin Kolb look somewhat comfortable in the pocket last night? Don't you feel better about Larry Fitzgerald now after seeing Kolb perform? Fitzie still a Top 15 pick now?

Didn't Tarvaris Jackson show us just the opposite last night, that he's still the same quarterback he always was? One sign of pressure and he's running, right? Wow, he doesn't make me feel very good about the Seahawks' WR prospects, how about you?

Did we learn anything about Orton and Tebow? Orton definitely is the starter there, but did you see anything you liked from Tebow?

QBs galore. Five more games tonight!! :D

Too early to draw any definitive conclusions but as far as the QBs, here were some of the things that jumped out at me:

Rivers is still a stud. If there's a QB who could topple Rodgers off the top spot in QB scoring this season I think it could be Rivers.

Kolb looked solid. I've been pimping Fitz as a Top 3 WR since Kolb got there. I love Fitz this season. Still think the Cardinals need another WR, though.

Broncos situation looks like it's pretty much set in stone for now. Orton will start. Tebow will be the backup. It'll be very interesting to see how Fox handles things when Orton mucks up because the cries for Tebow could become deafening.

Tarvaris Jackson still sucks.

I'll keep it close to home for you guys...Is this the year Finley stays healthy all 16 games? And if so what kind of numbers do you expect from him?
And is this the year James Jones gets the opportunity and actually seizes it? What have you heard out of Packers camp on him this year?
