Gordon Mad?

Post by Gordon Gekko » Thu Dec 09, 2004 11:22 am

Grumpy Dyv is actually a good guy...class act. i told him if i don't win the 100K, that he would be a good alternate.

As for me being mad...no. i knew the rules for this year, so i have no beef. that one is pretty simple.

as for going forward, the NFFC has a lot of good things going for it...most of all is KP. i've said it before and i'll say it again. you guys do an amazing job with customer service. you also listen to new ideas/suggestions.

the issue i have is with the H2H league winner blindly being awarded the lion's share of the money. To me (and others) this makes no sense. none. this is coming from a high stakes player perspective.

If at the end of the regular season the team with the best record is not the team with the most points, have a single playoff game or a three week playoff. at the end of the regular season, you could still award $2,000 to the best record and $2,000 to the most point team, and have the playoff worth the "other" money ($3,000?). it's simple and easy to implement. no down-side.

the success of your H2H record has been shown to be a combination of what players you start (100% control) and what players start against you (0% control). i'm asking H2H and points be weighed equally, and let the league champ be decided H2H on the field.

UPDATE after Week 13:

Team AFTER THE FALL 3-10
Final Point Average for 125.00
Final Point Average against 143.92

Team Jensen 10-3
Final Point Average for 120.32
Final Point Average against 98.58

as for next year, hopefully i'll be back with the NFFC. if i can point to one thing that would keep me from joining, it would be the lack of a playoff for league champ. blind bidding on draft slots doesn't even compare to this issue.

Gordon whining?.... YES! WOuld be a more appropriate name for this thread.

Wonder if Gordon would think it was an unfair system had he won his league and been 2nd in points.

My bet is "no"! ;)

Good luck to you in the playoffs Gecko because lord knows if you don't do well, you will have some reason (aka "excuse") why you SHOULD have been the champ, and you will flood these boards the entire off season!

[/QUOTE]How am I losing credibility? Just because your "do it this way", "I don't like this", "that will never work...nice try!" posts are getting old?

I'm in the playoffs, and I won my league drafting from the #14 spot (which of course you feel put me at a huge disadvantage!)

I don't see how that is losing credibility?

If your going to CONTINUE to put your name all over these threads, you better be prepared for a little criticism Gordon.

You know the saying....

"If you can't stand the heat..... ;) " maybe i missed it. do you agree with having a playoff for the league title if the same team doesn't have the best record & most points? thanks.

No, I don't. I think the setup is fine, but I do feel the most points deserves a more money. A $3,500 difference in prizes is too big a gap.

If your going to give out $6,500 between the two, then go with something like $4,000 for best record and $2,500 for best points.

I see your argument Gordon (you ARE the proverbial "squeaky wheel"), but I am betting that this will continue to be a head to head league FIRST and a points league SECOND, and I don't have a problem with that. Although the head to head has less control, it does create that certain "personal" feeling each week, as you have to try and matchup against your opponent.

GG is not mad. GG is not whining. GG is a high stakes fantasy sports player.

He believes the league 1st and 2nd place award system is flawed. He has enough experience with high stakes fantasy sports to have an "expert" opinion.

I happen to agree with him on this issue.
