Auction Leagues/Draft Masters Leagues

Our rules for the NFFC Auction Leagues and NFFC Draft Masters Leagues will be posted tonight, so feel free to check those out. Basically we've added those two events to introduce two fun ways to play fantasy football at a relatively affordable price. Each league has a $600 entry fee and a $50 co-manager fee and both will be held on Friday, Sept. 3rd in New York, Las Vegas and Chicago. I must admit that I've never competed in a fantasy football auction league, but I think the concept is great and I look forward to seeing how many people participate in this part of our event.

For the Auction Leagues, each owner will have an imaginary $200 to purchase 20 players. We will have 14-team leagues broken down into two seven-team divisions. Six teams will qualify for the playoffs in Week 14 and we'll go head-to-head during Weeks 14-16 to determine the league champion. Should be fun.

The Draft Masters League is a new concept that was introduced in expert leagues previously and it involves no transactions during the season. Basically you draft a team of 24 players and the computer picks your optimal lineup for each week based on the scoring totals of your 24 players. So if you have Peyton Manning, Carson Palmer, Eli Manning and Joey Harrington as your four QBs and Harrington scores the most points in one week, he will be inserted as your starting QB for that week. The team in each 14-team league with the most total points from its starters after 16 weeks is determined the league champion. It's a low maintenance league that can be a lot of fun.

Those drafts will be spaced out enough to allow people to compete in both events plus the NFFC draft on Saturday, Sept. 4th. You are welcome to enter one, two or all three if you'd like. We just want to allow everyone to get their fill of football that weekend and you can pick and choose as you see fit.

I'm confused about the rules on the draft Master league. Do we put in our lineups or does the computer? If its the computer than it could get real ugly when it comes to injury, bye week etc.

It takes the best results from your total roster. It will take the highest QB score plus the highest 2 RBs etc, etc. It means you can't screw up and leave your best WR on the bench since everybody is eligible. Obviously, you can't get points for your bye players. Interestingly, since it's total points over 16 weeks, bye weeks are less of an issue because "losing" 1 week due to heavy byes just doesn't matter.
