I think you guys will like this item that was e-mailed to me today. Let's use this one as a thread to chat football tonight as both Tom and I are hanging out online:

HE WAS LISTED UNDER 'TOAST'

Oakland Raiders quarterback Rich Gannon told the Denver Post that, yes, he did peek at one of those fantasy football magazines. And he was appalled at what he read.

"I wasn't even among the top 25," said Gannon, 38.

The top 25 players in the league?

"No, quarterbacks!" he said. "They had guys on the list ... I couldn't even pronounce their names. I didn't recognize them. Some of them were rookies! They had rookies ahead of me! I'm like, 'This is a joke.' I kind of smiled when I looked at it. Then I said, 'You know what? This is typical of society.'

"You go to four straight Pro Bowls and you're the league MVP. Then you get hurt, and you're with a team that had issues anyway, and now you're a guy who can't play. It's ridiculous."

Ok, guys, now I can get two homer answers to this question. Why the Green Bay offensive line over the New Orleans offensive line?

Also, if Kerry Collins didn't get him fired up enough, it sounds like the negative fantasy mags have. That was going to be a battle to watch during preseason anyway.

We had Gannon ranked 18th. If I would have known he was picking up pre-season mags, we might have lowered his ranking!!!

I don't think that's a homer pick by Tom on the Packers' offensive line. They were outstanding last year and all five linemen have been together now for three straight years. Last year nobody was injured and they helped the Packers set rushing records in just about every category. I think only Kansas City may have a better offensive line than Green Bay. Flanagan is a very good center, they have two solid tackles and they have an All-Pro guard.

You're pimping New Orleans as a homer pick, right Rick???

I don't know if I trust Gannon. Even before the injury last season he looked like absolute crap. And given how Collins is such a better fit for Norv Turner's offense, I can see Al Davis putting some pressure on Norv to go with Collins if Gannon struggles.

As far as the Packers' offensive line, I echo what Greg said. That wasn't a homer pick. The Packers' line is considered to be one of the best in the NFL. Look at the rushing numbers Green Bay produced last season. Not only did Green have a career year, but all three RBs averaged more than 5 YPC. Plus Favre was sacked only 19 times, which was tied for second-fewest in the NFL.

The Packers have a great offensive line. It's one of their greatest strengths.
