My Early NFFC RB Rankings Top 15 Flamers welcomed!

Post by pizzatyme » Fri Jun 01, 2007 4:31 am

Here is how I see it early on. I think there is plenty of depth at the RB position this season, but here are my top 15.

Discussion is appreciated. Flaming is allowed. Even using my rankings against me will be fine.

Have fun~

1 LaDainian Tomlinson-king of the hill but nowhere to go but down

2 Steven Jackson-
3 Larry Johnson
4 Frank Gore
5 Brian Westbrook
6 Joseph Addai
7 Willie Parker
8 Reggie Bush
9 Shaun Alexander
10 Rudi Johnson
11 Maurice Jones-Drew
12 Willis McGahee
13 Laurence Maroney
14 Clinton Portis
15 Travis Henry

What says you?
2008- Didn't finish last overall in the Classic.
2009- Didn't finish last overall in the Classic or Primetime.

Those 2 along with my Alexander ranking I figured to draw the most response.

I am high on MJD moving into the primary role this season.

I don't like the upside for Portis. I think Betts continues to eat into his production. Plus is Campbell for real as a QB? If everything breaks Clinton's way, he could be golden. I just don't see it right now.

Historically Gibbs does this. That has gotten him nowhere since his return to coaching. especially last year.

As for MJD, how is he any worse for wear than other diminutive RBs before him? He is built like a fire hydrant. He is thick for his size. He is no frail small RB like a Jerious Norwood.

My take on the RB list is this:

1)Happy that 2007 will produce many different lists as opposed to the status quo of the last 5-6 seasons.

2)My own list is different from all I've seen so far which is either a very good or very bad thing for me.

3)LT and SJax will remain consensus 1/2 which I don't dispute.

4)F.Gore....good RB but his ranking is based on last years points solely....will be top 10 but not top 5

5)SA is this years top 5 wild card IMO. If the foot injury is history then it's tough to find a more consistant top 5 RB. Rudi is consistant but never top 5 material.

6)MJD...I agree with snake that he is getting too much love but am unwilling to put the bust tag on him. (ranks 15 on my board)

7)Portis...one of my fav RB's but I disagree with snake on this one. I see a 65/35 split with Betts.

Your list has a chance (like most lists this time of year ). I like that you're thinking outside the box.

Alot of players unmentioned in your top 15 that have been spoken of on these MB threads as top 15 material.

Should be a fun 2007 with lots of parity.

Travis Henry will never make it to 15th if I"m drafting 12th. Tons of upside in Denver and nobody there to split carries with. I'd take him 12th and he has much more upside than several of the backs going ahead of him.
