Seeing Favre In Purple At Lambeau Field

I've seen a lot of big games at Lambeau Field, but it's going to be tough to top this Sunday's game with Brett Favre coming to town wearing the hated Vikings' purple. I'm not sure I can get drunk enough to handle this one!! :D Emotions will be running high and there will be a good mix of Vikings' fans at Lambeau because season ticket holders have been selling this ticket for $400+ everywhere.

There isn't any price that would get me to sell this ticket. In fact, I had to jump through hoops just to make it to this game. My daughter has her first communion on Sunday and I likely would have had to skip this game if FOX hadn't switched it from a noon kickoff to a 3:15 kickoff. That saved me and will allow me to get to the game with just a marginal tailgate beforehand. But I'll make up for lost time, trust me. :D

Okay, help an old man out on this one. Tell me how to behave on Sunday. I'm allowed to boo the guy who I watched and admired for 16 years, right? I mean, he's on the OTHER SIDE now and this is a big game with the division title on the line. There's no way I can even give him a simple acknowledgement, right?

I will say this much, Favre has surprised the living hell out of me this year. If you watched these last two games especially, he has put some balls right on the mark with some tough, tough throws. He just picked apart that Packers' soft 8-man zone crap three weeks ago and he will continue to beat zones until he's 65. The only way to beat him is to blitz, but even when teams blitz most times he gets rid of the ball so quickly. He still has it and it's good to see him still playing. I just wish it wasn't for the hated Vikings.

Oh well, should set up a memorable game on Sunday and I bet that FOX gets an all-time high TV rating for this one. Will you be watching?

Good luck all in Week 8 and give me some advice for Sunday. I'm an old dog who is confused that his master is now the enemy!! :D

The Packers should give him a standing ovation when he comes on to the field (Like Edge was treated in Indy). I thought that was VERY classy.
... than Boo the heck out of him when he plays the game (assuming your still a Packer fan?

I will be in Vegas making money off Favre (with my Favre jersey on) as the Vikings are the underdogs in this one).

Big Mike

I would be very surprised and respectful if they showed some class and gave him a standing ovation pre-kickoff, then let him have it all game long.

I know Favre could almost shed a tear if that happened...could even rattle his "revenge/hatred of management/ownership." It could take away his "edge"...kind of like a double whammy!

If ANY player deserves an ovation...it would be Favre.

That said...I think it will be a mixed reaction, and the crowd will go bananas on every score for either team.

I'll be watching this game exclusively...commercials and all...to hell with the Red Zone channel and Monkey Ears commentary during this game.

I've been looking forward to this game for two years...and am glad FOX pushed it back into the later games, allowing me more opportunity to feel the buzz of the game to build-up and allowing my own buzz to build up! :D

As for Favre, you should appreciate the way-too-many good memories Favre gave you over the years and cheer the guy in pre-game.

[/QUOTE]Good advice Jack!! ;)

I don't know if they do this at all other stadiums anymore, but the opposing team isn't even introduced at Lambeau these days. They just say something like, "And now the Minnesota Vikings and their coaching staff" and everyone runs out from the opposing tunnel. They used to introduce the starting offense or defense, but they don't do that anymore. And even if they did, I hardly doubt they would introduce the Vikings' offense.

So there will be little chance to cheer him in pre-game other than when he comes out of the tunnel or goes to mid-field for the coin toss. I'm sure he will do that and the cameras will be all over him. I think the fans will be respectful, but once the game starts they will boo him just like they do every other quarterback.

The time to cheer him is when he returns to retire his number. He's still the greatest player we've ever had and that's saying something with this team's great history.

It should be fun and it will be one memorable game to be at.

UYT hit it on the nose. There will be a huge welcome for Favre coming back to Lambeau. He ended up leaving because the Packers needed to make a decision or lose their QB of the future(Rodgers), and Favre couldn't make his decision in the time the Packers were asking. It was business, not personal. So Favre will be welcomed and embraced with huge roars and applause...But when the game starts, it's back to business. Lambeau will do everything they can to distract Favre for 4 quarters, because right here and now, they are Packers fans, and not a Favre fan. When the game is over, win or lose, Favre will get a round of applause as he leaves for his final time.

Then next year, Favre will sign with the Dolphins, just to get a razz out of the Jets fans.

The classy thing for the Packers to do would be to post his pic/a few highlights on the jumbotron right before the game starts and simply say, "Welcome Back Brett, thanks for all the great memories"

This will give everyone a chance to cheer or boo as they see fit.

After that, he's the enemy wearing another jersey and you want Hawk to rip his head off if you're a die hard Packer fan :D

They should show his game killing drives in the playoffs losing to the Cowboys in the 90's, the game killing pick he threw in OT in '07 Championship game, and maybe even last weeks pick to boot. That should rile the crowd up.

Honestly, I think they should concentrate on welcoming Ahman Green back instead.

Doomsday, I always liked your optimistic point of views....lol

My memories of Favre's career...I first think of his first main target, Sterling Sharpe, who in my opinion could have been one of the absolute greats....Then Robert Brooks, Robert Ferguson, Andre Rison and all of the other WR's that tried to take Sharpe's place, but couldn't...Until Driver came in to save the day...

I remember people saying Favre throws too many INT's to be a top QB in the NFL.

I remember the Superbowl he won. Andre Rison still says to this day that he threw his Superbowl ring in the river in Wisconsin, because he felt "USED" as a Packer...lol Rison was a weird one.

One of the best TE's Favre had was Mark Chmura. The NFL made him go away after he was found fooling around with a teenage girl. You never heard of him again.

I think Favre threw a TD to himself once. A pass tipped by a lineman that Favre caught and brought it in himself.

I won a championship fantasy football game on the night where Favre threw a pass to Robert Brooks(I think)...With no time left on the clock. The ball landed on the WR's back. He was untouched, and got up and ran 50 yards for the winning score. That was by far my most exciting win ever in fantasy.

I also lost a Superbowl in a league I was in, where I only had Favre left, and my opponent's players were done, and he was up by around 50...Favre's dad passed away that week, and this game was one of the best performances I've ever seen in Favre's career. In 2 1/2 quarters, Favre scored around 35-40 fantasy points, and then they benched him because they were winning by so much. I was sad I lost the superbowl, but I KNEW my opponent didn't get a wink's sleep that night watching that game...lol That was Favre at his best. His dad was looking down at him, proud, that day for sure.

It would be like Tom going to a rival publication.
Respect the man, wish him the best, and hope he gets annihilated!! :D
