Greg/Tom,

....FI$HER.... proudly plays in NY LEAGUE 9. Here is some empirical data for you to digest :

...FISHER... finished with the most points in League 9. We finished as the highest overall ranked team from our division (21st overall). Next highest was RI Workhorse who ranked 33 overall, which is outside of the top 10% of NFFC.

Using the Breakdown method, ....FI$HER... had the best overall breakdown record in our division of 120-49.

...FI$HER... had an season breakdown 8-5 record vs H2H winner (RI WORKHORSE)

Division winner was 12-1, ...FI$HER... ended up 7-6 due to bad luck of the schedule G-DS.

Points against for RI Workhorse was 1391.35 which is the LOWEST points against in the 14 team league.

I am happy to see RI Workhorse win the $5000. He battled injuries each and every week. (Westbrook, Fitz, Berrian, Colston). And he made the best FA pickups in our league by a landslide (Colston , Berrian, and recently Cedrick Houston).

Just wanted to point out that the divisions should be won on the battlefield in Weeks 14-16.

Was wondering which format you are leaning towards at this time to change for the better.

Congrats RI Workhorse :D

I'm going through all the numbers now, but I am leaning towards a change in the divisional payouts in 2007. Possibly $2,500 for h2h champ and $2,500 for total points league champ, and then a three-week runoff if those two teams are split for an additional $2,500. Weeks 14-16 would be total points, straight up over three weeks, for the last $2,500.

Obviously if someone had best h2h record and highest total points after 13 weeks, they'd win the $5,000 and the next highest total points would win the $2,500 and third place $500. But adding the extra layer in 2007 seems to make sense to me right now.

Changing this, maybe changing to 3RR along with KDS, and maybe one other twist could help us a lot in 2007, don't you think?

Greg I am not sure why you would want to make a change - the current format rewards the H2H winner - after all the NFFC leagues ARE set up as H2H leagues AND it rewards the teams that may not have good W/L records but have excellent point totals - in fact the 10% rule gives them an extra route to the Championship Playoffs if they are not first or second in their individual league.

Greg..I would love to see that change since every year we are always among the top point getters, but can't do anything about the Luck involved with matchups and the W/L record. I love the h2h format and I think this would be a good change and show who the best team really is.

Was it good scheduling fortune, or superior roster management ? Why not let the 'inferior' team prove it's mettle against the point juggernaut in a 3 week head on battle for the balance of the 5k !

Changing this, maybe changing to 3RR along with KDS, and maybe one other twist could help us a lot in 2007, don't you think? I LIKE THIS. Not only does it seem more fair in terms of rewarded the team who truly had the best season from within the league AND allows a major impact to come from H2H to keep all teams interested and reward those who may have gotten some good fortune in terms of wins, but not overall points. It also adds a good bit of excitement to those playoff weeks from within numerous leagues. Lets be honest, there is a good chance that a number of the teams in the post season chase will be all but out of it after week one. This spices things up.

I like this idea.

Those are good points and worth considering. But even in the revised format, h2h would still have that $5,000 feel to it during the regular season as anything can happen during a three-week sprint for the additional $2,500. I'm not sure it would penalize anyone since there's no guarantee that the total points champ during the regular season would always beat the h2h champ in the three-week sprint.

It's something I'm considering right now. And I'm going through every league now to find some numbers to see if it makes sense or not. Lots to come in an hour or so.

The only way to manage your roster is to get the most points every week, there is no defense against a bad teams fluke week.

Just flip the payouts so that head-to-head is still fun.

#1 $5000 total points
#2 $2500 best head-to-head
#3 $500 next best total points
