Any Interest In $1,250 Auction Leagues Next Year?

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Tue Dec 07, 2004 10:52 am

I'm glad we added the Auction Leagues this year to the NFFC and starting them for football at $650/team made a lot of sense. For our National Fantasy Baseball Championship, we do Auction Leagues at $1,250 a person and this year we chose to do the opposite of football and add $650 Auction Leagues to bring in more participants. We will definitely fill one or more leagues in Las Vegas and New York for both levels of Auction Leagues.

That being said, I'm wondering if there's enough interest in 2005 to do the same thing for football: Add $1,250 entry fee Auction Leagues and $650 entry fee Auction Leagues. Just a thought as we prepare to launch our Registration page for 2005 in another month.

Is there enough interest from our current players for two levels? Any feedback would be helpful.

i might have interest, but then again i'd like to see how the division(s) would be set up along with how the playoff teams were selected.

you might as well start a thread for an upper-tier auction league ($2500 or $5000). bring in some nude vegas FSX girls.

I haven't set up the 2005 rules for the auction league yet, but I'll certainly listen to the masses and go without divisions if that's what they want. One league, top two teams get first-round byes and the next four highest scoring teams make the playoffs. Something simple like that.

Although I must say, I enjoyed watching the Kessenich Division and the Ambrosius Division this year (STATS did that, not us!)!

Greg, you can't have it both ways... my auction team put up the 3rd best record (9-4) out of all 12 teams and didn't even make a 6 team playoff! Either reward records or reward points but be consistent in next year's versions of the rules. I don't deserve a playoff spot as I had the 8th best scoring total. That needs to be uniform ;)

I'd play again next year... although with the state of football injuries and such I'd be far more inclined to play an auction $1250 in baseball than I would football. I think I'd stick with the $600 range for football.

Greg,

I would most likely play in the higher league auction. Would certainly play if the higher league fee results in you getting something just for making the playoffs.

We finished 10-3, 3rd in points, go in as the 3rd seed. If we lose, nothing to show for that.

Dyv, I did reward records in the Auction Leagues, and too much, I might add. If you finished with a top-two record in your six-team division, you advanced to the playoffs. In hindsight, I didn't fairly reward total points in the Auction Leagues enough and thus will reward total points leaders more next year in the Auction Leagues. I'm sorry you didn't make the playoffs under either criteria, but I promise the format won't be so forgiving next year.

Yeah, that's possible Derek. Under our format now, you could go 13-0, finish with high points in the regular season and still win nothing, since the playoffs are h2h. Maybe we reward top record and most total points right away and distribute the rest to the top three playoff finishers. That wouldn't help you in your situation now, but it's a step closer to atleast rewarding the top regular season teams.

I'm in.

Hold the $1250 draft and the $600 draft at different times and I'll do both.

Definitely go with just one division, emphasize Total Points Scored rather than W/L, and reward the teams that do well during the season.
