Six Teams On Byes This Week

Is everyone ready for this? It's a historic week as the NFL has never had six teams all on byes at the same time. I hope everyone drafted accordingly and has live bodies at every position. Good luck everyone this week with your FAAB bidding because it could decide some contests with so many teams idle.
Teams on byes include Cleveland, Green Bay, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Minnesota and New England. That's a lot of offense.
By the way, did you ever think about the NFL suits who created the bye week several years ago? I know it was to milk one more week out of the TV networks, but it really is the greatest thing to hit fantasy football since the invention of the rules themselves. It provides so much week to week strategy and even an additional element of Draft Day strategy. Thank you Madison Avenue for forcing the bye weeks upon us and giving us one extra week of the NFL season!

What doesn't make sense to me is the spacing out of the byes over several weeks.
Does a team really benefit from a bye in week #3? Most teams could use a break in the middle of the season when injuries are mounting.
Why doesn't the NFL have the byes over weeks 7 and 8? Have half the teams take week #7 off and the other half take week #8? They would still have 8 games being played on each week and they get their extra week for the season.
Some random thoughts...

I have a vague memory of several years ago when all NFL teams had TWO byes per year. Am I imagining that or did it really happen?
Great line about Denver being on a bye this week. I saw someone who picks games pick "bye -3 vs Raiders" a few weeks ago... made me laugh.

If Oakland were at Chicago or Baltimore, you could say that THEY had a bye-week, as in no players will score any fantasy points. Just a variation of a theme.

In 1993, the NFL decided to generate extra television revenue by planning a 16-game schedule over 18 weeks. Players found it too disruptive, and fans had trouble keeping up with the byes.
I believe it also happened in 2001 due to September 11th. The entire slate of Week 2 games were cancelled and added to the end of the season, thus creating a second "bye" for all teams the weekend of September 16/17.

I love how the bye weeks add texture to fantasy football. The only problem is when some teams , through luck of schedule, meet up with other teams repeatedly with their higher round picks on byes and other teams seem to always catch their opponents with a full roster...
should be interesting to see what kind of score is high for the week... i am sure some teams are lucky to not have any important players on bye this week and will thus have huge advantages...
