Draft Day in N.Y.C.

A few people asked me to let them know of places to go while they visit N.Y.C. in 2005 for the NFFC Drafts...It seems as though a few guys got caught up in the tourist traps around New York in 2004. If you have any questions, just send me a private message or just keep this thread going...I'll be happy to let you know where to go whether you're going to see a show, bar hopping, get a hamburger or a corned beef sandwich, I'll give you a few options that won't make you max out your ATM.

Diesel,

I'm going to be in town for a few days during late July.

I'll have my 11-yr old son with me and he hasn't been to NYC before and I want to show him some of better sights. Definitely the Statue of Liberty, for one. We also have tix to the Yankees game one night. But, what are some other places that you would recommend for a child to see? Sights that he might not see again for a very long time.

Thanks in advance.

* The observation Deck in the Empire State building is pretty impressive(34th street and 5th ave.)...

* Madame Tussauds wax Museum on 42nd street is great for everyone because it's the only wax museum where you can touch the figures and take pictures. They always have the latest and most popular stars in there for you to take pictures with. My nieces went there and took pictures with the Derek Jeter and J-Lo figures and you would never know that they weren't the real thing...lol...If you go there, just expect to spend the $30 per person fee to get in...

* There is a boat called "The Beast" that goes out on the Hudson River and goes about 50 miles per hour...It's a great thrill ride. It costs $17 per person and I think your 11 year old will love it. Here's the link---

* Ground Zero (The site of the World Trade Center) is also a very popular place for people to come and pay their respects. If you're going to the Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero is only about a 15 block walk from where you catch the boat to the Statue of Liberty.

* FAO Schwartz is on 59th street and 5th ave...It's the store where they filmed the movie "BIG" with Tom Hanks. This is a cool toy store. I believe they still have that gigantic piano in there that you can play with or even buy if you want. This store is right across the street from the beginning of Central Park and also 1 block away from Donald Trump's building, Trump Tower, that they film the show "The Apprentice" in...Of course you'll have to say "YOU'RE FIRED!" when you go there...lol

Hope this helps you out a little. I'll post more tomorrow...

Gekko with the 100K that you have, you should have Heidi Fleis on speed dial. Giuliani got rid of all the streetwalkers a few years ago.

Thanks in advance. When going to the Statue you MUST!!! buy tickets to walk up on the Statues Base at the Dock that you leave from. If you get to the Island without tickets they will not let you up into the Statue Base. Don't forget that.
I have been there twice recently and it can really be a disappointment.

I have a 10 year old and he loved Jeckyll and Hydes on 56th and (6th)(I think) could be park, Check the address. It's a theme restraunt and a good one. It will put you at Central Park and Trump Tower to do a few other things. Good spot.

The Museum of Natural History is also a must. Dinosaurs etc. amazing and really nice.

Enjoy.
