Troy Williamson-WR-Vikings Nov. 8 - 12:04 pm et

The Vikings fined Troy Williamson a game check for leaving the team last week to be with his family following his grandmother's death.

He only lost $25,588.24 of his $435,000 base salary, but the Minneapolis Star-Tribune speculates that this could be the beginning of the end for Williamson in Minnesota. The drop-prone Williamson hasn't come close to fulfilling expectations since being the No. 7 overall pick in the 2005 draft. There was speculation last offseason that he'd be released.

I am shocked the Vikings are fining him for this. I "assume" he had permission to leave, and maybe he knew he would be fined, but for some reason this just doesn't sit well with me.

Must be something to do with Williamson not being on the team flight from Minneapolis to Minneapolis last weekend.

Honestly, in my business, the motto is "what ever you can afford", when it comes to taking off for any reason. I would be "fined" a day's pay also, but it would be a little less than what Williamson was docked.
