The 2008 NFL Pick 'Em Contest is here!
For anyone that has never done this type of contest, here's how it works.
It's commonly called a "share pool". Each paid participant will be awarded
1000 "shares" to start the NFL season. Each week, as point spreads are
announced, you may wager your shares on any given NFL game. There is no
minimum or maximum to the shares you may bid on any game, in any week. You
will wager your shares just as you would with real money in Vegas...It's all
up to you when you wager, who you wager on, and how much you wager.
You may wager on a team (giving or getting points)...Or you may wager on the
over/under of any game(as long as there is an over/under).

Who sets the point spreads? - Our pool's website sets the default point
spreads on Tuesday mornings based on the current odds from a list of
different sportsbooks. They always set the spread to end with 1/2 point to
avoid ties. They always round UP. If the line is even everywhere, say -3,
we'll make it -3.5. If it's +7 everywhere we'll make it +7.5.

Can other people see my picks? - The pool manager will hide everyone's picks
until after the pick deadline. All picks will always be viewable once the
games start.

Can I roll over winnings in the same week? - Yes. If you wager shares on a
Thursday game and win, you may wager any and all of your new amount of
shares on Saturday, Sunday or Monday games. All wagers will be factored in
after each game's end. After this time, you'll have a new amount of shares
to wager as you choose.

How much is it to play? - The cost is $55 per entry. $5 per entry is used
to pay for the website. $50 per entry is placed in the prize pool. After
the $5 is taken out for website fees, All entry money goes to the prizes to
be awarded. There is no "vig" expected. I will refuse any money from the
winners. ALL MONEY IS FOR THE PRIZES.

Can I enter more than once? - Yes. You can enter as many different times as
you'd like. Each entry will be seperate, and you'll have to create a new
free account name for each new team on the website. They have the
capability for anyone to create an "alias" to make it simple to create
multiple screen names.

What are the prize payouts? - The prize payouts are 65% for first
place...25% for second place...10% for third place. If more than one person
ties for any place, they will split the prize money.
The Main thing is for everyone to have fun, and maybe win a little money
while doing it. For this year, I am capping this contest at around 70
people. I want everyone to have fun, and I would love to see 200 people in
this, but I don't want the contest to get too big. Yet. Once we all have one
full year doing this, I'll consider bringing more people in it in 2009.

The website we use is the same site we've used for the 13 Run Pools...Our Pool runs for the regular season only. Weeks 1-17. No playoffs.

Please just write "POOL" in the lower left...And if you're going to join
with a friend or two, it would help if you guys send a check with multiple
entry fees combined...But it's not necessary. If you do send a check for
more than one person, please have a letter attached telling me who the
entries are for, along with the emails for each participant.

Finally, entries will only be accepted until Saturday, August 23rd. This will give us enough time to have the site set up for the
NFL season, and everyone will have around 2 weeks to get to know the site
before the contest starts.
***I'd like to repeat that I'm doing this so we
can all have fun and I do NOT want any tip or vig in return. I just ask
that everyone have fun with this...Please remember that your internet connection is your responsibility. I won't be able to input anyone's picks at anytime. If your computer is out, you'll have to contact a friend or
family member to input your picks anytime throughout the NFL season.
