What about some Hoops drafts ?

Will you have any live or Satellite Hoops leagues this year?

LOL, I was thinking the same thing today, but didn't dare bring it up yet. Give these folks a well deserved break for AT LEAST this week.

After that, let's bother Greg about this on a daily basis. :D

Will you have any live or Satellite Hoops leagues this year? I met with STATS, Inc. this week in Las Vegas and we already have to ball rolling for basketball, no pun intended. I will only do it with STATS and I will only do it with a license from the NBA. As you guys know, last year the NBA denied me a license because they don't like the high-stakes idea. The CDM decision would seem to show us that you don't need a license, but STATS is the NBA's statistical partner and they can't run an unlicensed game and Krause Publications would just as soon have the NBA's best graces, too. So we're trying to nail down Step 1 and then get the game going.

Cost would be $600 again and we'd shoot for around 96 teams (8 leagues of 12 teams each). The grand prize wouldn't be huge, but the framework would be set and in subsequent years we'd grow from this. It would be an online draft this year and in future years we may go with a combination of live and online as I don't see us going just live in the very near future for basketball. Sound good?

Hockey is a possibility in 2007. I am already having talks with a Canadian media company as there's no way I could promote this alone. The goal there is to get a plan and game in place for next year (and maybe even this year's playoffs) and do it right.

I have not forgotten the other sports and I am talking with other companies to help me. Tom and I are getting a little thin with our time, but the goal is still to be the high-stakes leader in all of the major sports.
